Reverting System colours back to default

Hey all,
Tried the Plexi theme from Lakeridge Software forums. Was nice but one thing I didn't like was that it changed all my system colours to light blue and grey.
I've tried soft and hard resets, and restores from Sprite to no avail. Looks like I need to hack the registry.
Could someone tell me what are of the registry I need to go into and what the default values are for the system colours, graphs (eg memory, wi-fi start up) etc. Crazy as this may sound, i kinda like the default colours.

Thanks

Default "Today" Screen

You might try, "Start", "Settings", "Today", Select a theme for your
device, scroll down to "Windows Default", highlight the option.
Then "OK" your way out.

Plain screen but, reads well. :approve:

Sorry Tankman, sounds like I wasn't clear enough. I've long since changed themes, and the grey and light blue are still there. It shows up on title bars, grpahs for memory, etc. Like I said, I think I need to get into the registry to change the values back to the default, but I have no idea what the defaults are, and which values to change.

Careful in the registry.

I downloaded a freebie, ColorPicker Beta vs 1 to change screen
colors. Works well.

Perhaps downloading this freebie, and trying, might
do the trick.

Can you remove the Lakeridge program first?

Porbably a question better asked in the Plexi thread at the Lakeridge Forums. You are not the only one who wants to restore the system colors. You can also see the Skinning Guide to create your own skin to restore the system colors. The section of importance is at the bottom. This is essentially the same as editing the registry (described below) but is probably safer and easier. Refer to the M$ link to get the default colors you need to restore.

If you are brave you can edit the registry. With your registry editor browse to HKLM\System\GWE. See if you have the following keys present:
  • DefSysColor
  • SysColor
If they are both present then compare the value data in each. If they are different then you can delete the SysColor key. Next copy the DefSysColor to the same location and rename it to SysColor. Before you do this though you should make a backup of the registry or export the key so you can restore in case something fouls up. You will have to soft-reset to have the changes take effect.

If you can't find the DefSysColor key then you will have to edit the SysColor key. This BLOB key contains hex values for all the system colors that can be changed. See this M$ article on Customizing the System Colors for what each hex value represents.

Thanks DDG, I'll give your suggestions a try. I like the idea of creating a skin, before playing around in the registry.
