Question Wisbar Advanced and skins

OK I'm running Wisbar Advanced and have downloaded Expea2_skinsuite_VGA_1.2.

I haven't a clue how to use the skins. I've search the forum for a tutorial and couldn't find one. I also went to the Wisbar site to no avail.

I have no idea where to put the Expea2 skins on my 51v and haven't a clue even after knowing where to put them as to how top use them with Wisbar Advanced. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thaks in advanced and I searched the best I could before posting, but I'm totally lost.

I have never used Expea before, I only use the Vista skin by XC.

This is how I do it.

Some of you may scold me, but I place all of the themes I download directly on the BIS (built in storage) in the \Program Files\Lakeridge\Wisbar Advance 2\Themes directory. Then I just go to the Wisbar Advance 2 settings and there is the skin. I select the skin and apply the changes. Of course I'm sure you can change the themes directory to whatever you want.

If you need further help, I suggest the Lakeridge Software forums site - that's where Chris and most of the skinners are.

Just remember - unzip the directory into the WBA themes folder, wherever you have it set up; if you defined extra theme folders in WBA2, you can use one of those.

I've done that and the skin came up after I clicked on it and only displays the skin and see no way to change it or assign it???? when I click on it it's opened in Opera and just shown as a pic??

If I put the skins folder the themes directory like they say when I go to advanced settings it only shows my themes and not the skins folder in the themes directory??

Been there done that. Lots of discussion but no basic tutorial on using the skins in WBA. Way over my head. I'll keep hacking away at it or just dump the skins lol. all i wanted was just a basic tutorial on how to apply the skins. I did what it said and put the skins folder in my themes directory in WBA and when I go to the advanced setting and themes it doesn't even show the skins directory. Argh lol. Well thanks anyway.:)

bah, you are clearly doing something wrong. not how you are loading the theme but i bet that that skinsuite has more that one folder full of stuff.

i will take a look at this for you becasue i just dont understand how someone could have this hard of a time.

just opened the main zip. you get a lot of files. extract the whole archive somewhere. you will get several folders. the folder called Expea2_WA2_VGA is the one you want to copy to the themes directory. make sure you delete all thumbs.db files otherwise you will have a hard time.

EDIT: there is even an instructions.txt file included, have you read this??????

Indeed. I just reopened mine and saw there were about a dozen folders below the Expea2_VGA one... and the instructions file tells you EXACTLY where to extract each and every thing.

Yep. I read the instructions and follwed them to a "T". Example... I installed psShutXP . Then as per the instructions I dropped to 2 gif files into the psShutXP program folder which is suppose to over write the skin. No go. The files are there, but the appearance of the program has not changed? Pretty simple instructions, but nothing happened!?

I've got the theme installed , but there are no instructions on how to apply the different components. When you go to the Expea 2 folder all the gifs are there , but have no idea how to apply any of them.

Since I am running the Expea2 theme I cannot find a way to change the icons that appear on the desktop ie... the battery indicator icon or memory icon etc. They change if I rotate through the themes, but i want to change them in the Espea2 theme.

all the instructions you mention do is tell you how to install the theme and put everything. Nothing beyond that?

If I'm understanding your problem, WA is not finding your theme. Goto Settings>Program Directories and add the location of the themes on your system. After that WA should be able to find the correct theme.

Well I think I have it under control and I thank everyone for help. I had some conflicts and took care of them with a Hard Reset and reinstalled everything and it all went as should. I have a few remaining issues and will post a new thread adressing those. thanks again everyone!:)
