i just noticed something. it is NOT the NCC-1701-A, it is only the refitted original enterprise from Star Trek: The Motion Picture--look at the saucer where the serial number is. there clearly is no "A."
Unless I am terribly mistaken, the Enterprise A did not come into existence until Star Trek II. Exactly the same design as the ship in The Motion Picture, but they tacked on an "A" for some reason I don't recall....I don't seem to remember the refitted original Enterprise from TMP getting blown to smithereens or anything....
