Wisbar - Will it slow down my X51v a lot?
I'm thinking about trying Wisbar and wondering if it will slow my X51v down a lot.
Can anyone tell me if it does or not?
thanks!

it does, but "a lot" is a subjective concept. I don't use wisbar for this reason...

Why don't you download the trial to try it for yourself since it also depends on which features you enable/disable!

I don't notice any difference, and I have a low end x51.
I do work faster with wisbar because I program the e-mail button to close program, and home bottom to start menu.

I've tried both Wisbar Advance and Lite and find that while I prefer all the fancy features in Advance, Lite is much faster and has enough of the features I need.
(Well, except for the clipboard pop up but I can live without it.)

It does slow down your x51v. I no longer have it installed.

I gave it a try, and the "Loading" screen every time you went to the today screen was painful enough for me not to think twice before uninstalling it. Sure it's pretty but if you actually want to *use* your Axim then it is a bit of a waste.
I also found it difficult to find VGA themes for it without having to fork over money, bit annoying if you only want to try it out.

I don't notice any real showdown myself, but this is with WM 5 and the latest beta versions. As for themes, I find mine on the Lakeridge Software forums, and on the SBSH Pocketbreeze forums, since many who skin PB also skin Wisbar Advance skins in VGA. But all I can suggest is to try it, and if you want the task management or cascading start menu without the skin, there's Wisbar Lite, as noted by a previous poster.

I use wisbar Advance 2. And according to Taskmgr WA2 uses only 3% of my cpu.

Wisbar Advance 2 will be slower alot on x50v WM5 rom.1, but suprisingly faster than WM2003 with rom upd.2 during skins loading.

Surely that Wisbar will slow down your device. But It's not very noticeable, especially on such a monstery device like the X51v.
So It's recommended that you give it a try. You can always uninstall it If it slowes your system too much.

But, really , why do you need Wisbar? I understand having WAD, for extra functionality and plain beauty, but Wisbar, I don't understand. Everyone has some sort of launcher installed like iLauncher or other inferior alternative, lol, or should have.. So task manager is not an issue, so why have Wisbar? Could someone elaborate?

1) Cascading Start Menu - just like other versions of Windows for the desktop, you can reorganize the Start Menu to have a cascading mode, which is a LOT handier than having to open five windows to open one program. Instead, you click the Start button, go down to the Programs Menu, and click on the Games menu to open the application, instead of opening the Programs Window, then the Games Window, and THEN opening up that third unnecessary window, wasting RAM and time opening up those windows.
2) Running task icons on top bar - some programs do this, but Wisbar has some nice features regarding 'click-and-hold' to kill running programs, etc.
3) Top Bar customization - you can put on notification buttons on top or remove them; you can add the Clock back if you did the AKU 2.x or 3.x update which removes the time from the top: you can add the battery meter or remove it entirely to have more space for task icons.
4) Wisbar Advance Desktop support: WAD is not a stand-alone: you need either WBA or WB Lite to run it.
5) Skinning. If this is important to you... this is the only program which modifies most of the interface from Start Menu to system sounds.
Personally, I don't use iLauncher's task manager at all - I find Wisbar's to be much more intuitive for me, and the performance hit isn't nearly as big as people claim it is, at least not with WM5.

Just an FYI, I'll be opening up the public beta for WisBar Advance 3.0 soon and those delays have been mostly eliminated. In closed-beta testing it appears that it's running at native speeds.
Also, there are several new task management features that can't be found in any single package.
