2215 won't boot
Hi,

I've installed a skin (osxvga one of Juni's beauties) for my 2215 and now it wont boot properly.
I've reset it loads of times but it just hangs waiting for PocketWeather to load.

I'm guessing its stuck in a loop of somekind, it cant start as the skin is set to one that doesnt work, but I cant change the skin as it wont start properly.

About 5% of the time after a reset I can get the start menu up, can I turn the skins off in here somehow?

any help greatly appreciated.

If you can get the start menu try syncing the device and deleting the skin through file explorer.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it doesnt appear to sync either, when I put it into the cradle it makes the sound and starts to charge but doesnt sync.

I'll keep bashing away at it, hopefully just once it'll let me in!

Two more questions though :-
Is there any reason why this skin wont work on a 22xx?
If push comes to shove, how do I do a hard reset?

Thanks

Don't know why the skin won't work on your device. Here's how to do a hard reset.
1. Press and hold Application Buttons 1 (Calendar) and 4 (iTask) on the front of the unit and, at the same time, use the stylus to press the
Reset button on the back of your iPAQ Pocket PC.

2. Hold all buttons until the displayed image begins to fade (approximately four seconds).

Just for reference here's a link to the 2200 series user guide. http://h200002.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/s...7/lpia8007.pdf

Detailed instructions and graphics are on page 1-9. Good luck.

Thanks, I bit the bullet last night and did a hard reset.
It was probably due one anyway, good to have a clear out every now and then

After the reset I tried the skin again and it still didnt work, the graphics at the top weren't correct, the icons looked too big and also they were not displayed correctly.
Not to worry, I'll try another one, there are loads of good ones to choose from.

Thanks to all for their help

Just to let you know - the skin wouldn't work as (there is a clue in the name): osxvga - whereas your 2215 is a Qvga device.

Make sure that you always get the 'normal' skin in the future rather than the VGA version for your device.

lmao, I wasnt sure what the deal was with VGA if it was 22xx compatable or not, thats that sorted then.

The thing that made me try it was in the setup of PocketWeather (great app btw) you can select VGA icons or Default and as both seemed to work I thought the 22xx could handle it.

Live and learn eh!
