I have tried several times to download Theme Generator from Microsoft (and mirror sites) but it just doesn't work. I get a message:

"Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read the file C:\windows\temporary internet files\content.IE5\GZ91kcd5\themegeneratorv2.msi"

I have uninstalled/re-installed etc. etc. etc.

Any suggestions?

I did a google seach and it appears to be an installer error on your PC. Check this article for details on resolving it.

Thanks, Ike. I uninstalled it and re-installed it and now I get two separate error messages:

"A device attached to the system is not functioning"

and

"The SKINAPP.EXE file is linked to missing export SHELL32.DLL:SHGetFolderPathA"

I run Windows98SE (yes, I know I'm antiquated) and PPC2002.

Could I be having a Visual Basic problem and how do I fix it?

I think you'll find the problem is win98 - I think you have to be using at least win2k and have the windows installer up to date.

I'm pretty sure that theme generator won't run on win98 (I have been using 98 on both my laptop & PC until updating one to win2k more recently)

I can't find theme generator on the m$ website anymore - but there is a page here which backs up my memory - win2k or XP I'm afraid!
