Both MS Theme Generator and Theme Maker Light have a facility to change the color of the text on Today Screens - I have chosen yellow, which looks good against my rather dark background image. But the Text color in my Start Menu remains black.

Does anyone know if the Start Menu text color can be changed and, if so, how ?

I have never found a way on Theme Generator to change the text color on the Start Menu, either.

Thank you for your reply. I am sure that neither Theme Generator or ThemeMaker Lite can change the color of the Start Menu text - I just wondered if anyone knew of another way/program that could.

This looks like one for Deftech, Cageyjames, Ikehiker or, most probably, Microsoft. I will e-mail their technical support people.

It is not all that important. All the individual programs listed in my Start Menu I can also access from icons on the Today Screen in Launcher. I only really use Start menu to go to Programs or Settings. But it is rather an annoying omission nonetheless.

i have a black picture in my background, and for the record, if youwant to be able to see the start meny text which seems to be fixed on black characters, all you have to do is save a blank paint file (white or any light color), and set that as the start menu background (step 2 of MS Theme Generator "select a start menu image"

You can access the Today colors through the registry.
The Start Menu Text is @ \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Color\39. If the key does not exist, create a new Binary key, and enter the Hex color of your choice. The hex value should take the form 'rr gg bb 00'. No reset should be needed. This may only work on WM2k3, but I'm not sure.

You can try a pgm called Tweaks2k2 (check pocketgear.com) it allows several registry changes without actually going into the registry

after tweaking - soft reset the machine

remember to backup your registry before you do anything!! btw i used PHM RegEdit (freeware) just google it..
