SKIN: PPX - Tilson Lake (RELEASED!)

Well, I've got the work done on my most ambitious UI yet.... Tilson Lake. It is now available for download at the speedZone!

In this screenshot we see the "main" interface. There are "shelves" for placing application shortcuts. The view outside is modular and can be replaced (a simple graphic can be used... the window is an overlay with transparencies) Virtually everything is tappable. And will offer a few hidden surprises. ;) In the final version, tapping on the window will take you outside!

Note: the icons displayed here are just for show...as an example of how it looks like with applications defined. someone was "put off" by the pocket e-sword icon (PDA with the cross), so I just wanted to clarify that those are MY customizations... as delivered, no apps are defined.

Tapping on the desk blotter from the main page brings up this screen. Tapping the telephone launches "Contacts" but can be changed to launch a different app. Tapping the notepad brings up "Notes". Tapping on the chair takes you back to the main screen. Tapping each of the books brings up the appropriate PIM slot.

This is what it looks like when you tap "Things to Do"... tap the book again to "close it".

Here's a view after tapping the "Daily Planner"...

I'm giving away a little secret here... if you tap on the desk blotter while in "close-up mode" (with the books, phone, and notepad visible) you can "move the blotter aside and hide some apps under it! Tap the blotter again to restore the blotter, tap the chair to go back to the main view.

This is the entertainment center inside the cabin. The VCR/CD player are preset to launch a music player, tapping the TV launches Pocket MVP. You can see that I already placed GSPlayer/MIDI on the shelf. Again, plenty of places to store apps, and the view in this window is customizable too.

Yes, just download the .xui file to your PPC. Then Start->Settings -> Interface -> Install, select the xui to install. Then Start -> Settings -> Interface -> Switch to make Tilson Lake the active UI.

You need to pick up a copy of PPX first before installing Sracer's Tilson Lake xui file. The .xui is basically the compressed form of a PPX theme for easy transport.

I've setup some FAQs with step by step walkthroughs and images on a variety of subjects in PPX at the main PPX site. You can also only purchase PPX there.

You first have to install PPX in order to have the option "startmenu","settings","Interface".

Peace,
Henk.

Hi billyevil!

I'm just across the state from you. How's things at that end?

I just recently started using Wisbar Advance - initially to get some fuctionality on the top bar - but, of course once I got a couple of Juni's skins, and liked the look....:)

Soo, I decided to look at Dashboard, mainly for the ability to have multiple Today screens. But I found out it doesn't play well with all the kids on the block! (Calendar Plus Pro, for one.)

I came across PPX quite by accident - looks great!!! A few questions before I part with part of my paycheck:

Does it work with Wisbar Advance at all? Or do need to uninstall WA first? And Calendar Plus Pro? Work together OK?

Lastly, can you switch between multiple Today screens? I couldn't quite tell from your site - theme switching is mentioned, but not Today screen configurations.

Thanks!

I use PPX and love it.

I believe you CAN use Wisbar, you just have to disable the PPX taskbar. Although, you really don't need wisbar. PPX has a task switcher, a close option, volume option, etc.

Haven't tried to use Calendar Plus, but you may want to check the PPX forums about that.

The "Today Screen" is replaced by PPX. PPX includes the desktop, or background, the task bar, and the menu bar. It is easy to switch between UIs. You just go to start--->Settings--->Interface---->Switch. :)

Thanks, Rayanne.

I was just reading about Virtual Pages at the PPX site.

Can I use the same plug-ins on different Pages or UI's? For example, if I have Journal Bar on one UI, and I also have it on another, when I switch? Or are plug-ins limited to one UI?

Thanks,

I know you can have them on one, and you can have them on all of the pages. I am not sure about the inbetween; although I don't think you can because of the way you activate them. You tap and hold, chose configure plugins, then you have to choose which vpage you want the plug-in on. You can choose one particular page, or you can choose All.

Rayanne answered the questions beautifully, but i thought i'd add that you can use the same plugins on different virtual pages in a user interface (ui) and you can use the plugins in more than one or in as many themes as you want. As for it being on another when you switch:

When you install a ui or theme as i call them, you are given only the settings that the author of that theme put in place before packaging it for distribution. Sometimes you get a plugin already setup, and sometimes you don't depending on what the author does. I usually send mine out as blank slates for people to setup how they want and only configure appointments/tasks and a couple other links to default programs.

So, you configure each of your themes the way you want them, and those settings stick so that when you come back to the theme the settings will be there. You will have to set your plugins on the different themes unless the author of the theme has pre-placed them there for you. Setting up the plugins isn't hard to do. Simply follow the faq or manual links in my signature for more help or contact me via email or chat and i can walk you through anything personally.

p.s. Glad to see another Pennsylvania person. Vram is one as well. :)

Thanks Raynne & billy.

I purchased PPX last night! Had some confusion with the registration, but Michael cleared it up! (The dreaded "trailing space after owner name" syndrome.)

I asked Michael when I replied, but maybe one of you know:

Calendar Plus Pro is hanging now. Amit Regev, the developer thinks this has been fixed. Anything special I need to do to get them working OK? Or is it only fixed in the beta, perhaps? (I installed the stable version).

Thanks again!
