Just wanted to add that if any of you experience any problems don't hesitate to contact myself or the others at PPX via our forums, our online chat, or via email. We're always more than happy to help you no matter what it is.
I will add my name to the satisfied customer of PPX3k. I haven't seen any slow downs and it makes the ax work almost like your regular desktop. you can move things around where you want them, etc. I am still playing with all the overlay stuff and other options but so far am 100% happy.

Hi, I downloaded the demo, and also downloaded the WinXP (skin?), but somehow the WinXP skin doesn't work.
I transfered the files to my PPC, and run the install from the menu of PPX. There are some graphics/files not found error, and then it sez installation complete.
When I go and change the theme to WinXP, All I see are "x", pretty much like a missing graphic error with browsers.
Do I need to purchase the full product to be able to try the WinXP theme/skin?
I'm dying to try the WinXP theme (probably my main reason buying the program), but I want to see it working on my PPC first.
im not sure what version the demo is, but notice on the winXP skin, that a certain version is required of ppx. When i installed it, the only version it would work for was the beta ppx(might be full now, havent checked) but if the new full version isnt out yet, it will only work with the beta, which there isnt a demo of. hope that helps
Okay, after posting my concerns, I went ahead to download another demo, and this time the WinXP theme works.
Well, sort of... For one thing, it's on the slooooow side. Secondly, my appointments, tast, etc. doesn't open my Pocket Informant, instead it opens the built-in PIM...

Hmm, thank goodness for demo's...
Thanks for the reply...
Absolutely! That's the purpose of the demo. To try-it-before-you-buy-it. I want to commend you for having the patience to work on getting the demo working BEFORE purchasing. Some folks bypass the demo altogether and simply purchase it without knowing whether or not they'll like the results.
As for the UI itself. You mention that WinXPSE is slow for you. Have you tried other PPX UIs to determine whether or not it is PPX itself that runs "slow" on your device or if it is WinXPSE?
With regard to appointments and tasks. It's important to remember "that you aren't in Kansas anymore" and that what you see on your screen is no longer the Today screen. ;)
The appointments and tasks displayed on WinXPSE are using PPX's Built-in agenda and tasks features. When tapped, they will launch the appropriate built-in app.
I don't know if you knew this, but PPX also supports Today screen plug-ins. You can still use your favorite plug-ins with PPX. By default, WinXPSE does not have any plug-ins configured (I wanted it to be functional for everyone and not only by those who use a particular plug-in).... but you can modify WinXPSE to use your favorite plug-ins.
My advice? Try one of billy's WinXP-inspired UIs first. They are not as complex which makes it easier to tweak and customize. If you like the performance, functions, and features provided by PPX with that UI, then it shouldn't be too difficult to get WinXPSE working to your liking.
Thank you for trying PPX and WinXPSE... I hope some of these tips help.

Currently i'm working on some new themes and i take requests, just shoot them off to my email.;)
I recently purchased PPX and I love it. I liked the Pocket PC when I got it, but it just felt like something was missing. When I saw the PPX web page, I knew that was what I was looking for. I was using ICbar and Claunch previously, and now I have 5 or 6 wonderful themes for PPX that I use and rotate between depending on the day. No slow down that I noticed, and there are some really talented designers for these themes out there.
Originally posted by AximLegionnaire Can someone please explain how PPX works. CAn you make your own custom today screens or something? Those windows XP ones look awsome! Would PPX allow me to have a setup lik that?
PPX is basically a Today screen replacement. It has an open ended framework allowing one to create virtually any interface imagined.
You can configure PPX to use Today screen plug-ins, so you don't have to give up your favorite plug-ins.
PPX provides an integrated taskbar tool offering functions similar to ICBar and WISBar.
Most people who use PPX find that they no longer need plug-ins, or taskbar skinners... this results in reduced memory usage.
You can take a look at the wide variety of PPX UIs available at Handango (search for PPX), www.ppxskins.com, and my speedzone site.
A demo version of PPX is available from www.ppx3k.com. If you are interested in it, I highly recommend that you try the demo before purchasing it.
Thanks for the answer to my question. I already have the demo on a CD, and I will be trying it tonight. I can see how PPX works now, but I'm still curious about HOW the skins are created. Does PPX alow you to create your own skin from scratch, or do you need another program. For example, what program doesbillyevil use to make his themes and what program did you use to make WinXPSE?
One final question, is there a regular windows XP (not SE) that has all of the features in your SE?
O, since someone(i hope) is gonna answer AximLegionnaires Q's i have one quick one to add, the windows logo in the top left corner of the screen, is there anyway to not have that at all, or to move it to anotehr location =]
O, i dont mean to just replace the icon. I have PPX set up so that i no longer use it at all, and i would like to just hide, or move it somewhere else to make my Skin look More like an actual WinXP desktop. If its not possible its not that big of a deal, mostly for asthetics if you know what i mean
