So is Silverfish XP at BillyEvil.Com This theme was an attempt to bring the beauty of xp along with some improvements. I hope you enjoy it.
The bottem taskbar is an overlay image and the theme was made specifically to be modular and easy to change. Basically to change the background just replace the desktop.bmp with your 240x294 bitmap and to replace the startbar at the bottem just replace OImage9.bmp in the desktop folder with your own bitmap. It's just that easy.

Is everyone using this PPX happy? Doesn't it degrade performance? And is it full shell replacement or just an application running on top?

I am very happy with it, so many things are now possibly through it. I havent noticed any loss in performance, although there probly is a slight loss, not noticelbe to me though.
It isnt really a replacement, the best way i can think to compare it to is remember how win95/win98 was a dos based system... loaded Dos and then loaded windows over dos, well this is in that same sense, if that makes any sense to you
;)
I'd like to know how others benefit from using PPX. I purchased it and then after noticing too much of a performance hit, I removed it. I am now debating wether or not I should try it again.

i personally cant notice any performance hit at all. How long ago did u try it, maybe there have been a few advancements since then that improve performance, but this skin sracer did on xp i love, i hope he continues to improve on it, head to the site listed about and see the features, they are alot of benifits right there
One thing to keep in mind is that it may be a Today plug-in that is causing the drag on performance. In my experiences, PPX has no perceptible drag on the system, and because it provides both taskbar and desktop skinning abilities, I find that memory usage may actually be LOWER than using individual components like WISBar and dashboard together.
Thanks for the kind words psychoticpnut. I definitely plan to improve WinXPSE even further. There's a lot more to do, and a lot more ideas I have, but I wanted to have a few smaller releases than one big monolithic release.

It depends upon what you use ICBar for. PPX includes a skinnable taskbar but you can disable it to use ICBar or WISBar instead.
It provides a task manager, copy/cut/paste clipboard, volume control, user-defineable buttons, minimize, close, and a few more features that I can't remember.
The only omission that PPX's taskbar has is that there is no battery/memory meter capability. But other than that, PPX's taskbar is very functional.
