Better than what ??

Wisbar Advanced is an excelant low memory application for skinning the top & bottom bars, start menus, and the icons like sound, clock, notifications etc. and it works well ppc2002 & WM2003

Facelift does a similar job but was designed with the intension of skinning the today and menu bars of older ppc2000 machines to make them look like a ppc2002 without OS upgrades. It has additional features like today plugins that monitor battery & memory useage. Facelift is a memory intensive application in comparison to wisbar and is very buggy running under wm2003.

Wisbar is Free, facelift isn't.

If your running ppc2002 or wm2003 use Wisbar

If your running ppc2000, facelift your app.

facelift wasn't exactly to make 2000 look like 2002, since 2002 doesn't have full screen themes, or cascading menus.

You can accomplish with wisbar what facelift did with one click, it's just more effort. If facelift ran under 2003, I'd be using it now. The memory hit wasn't that bad really. I ran it on both a basic and advanced and never noticed any degradation in performance.

I bought Facelift for my old Jornada 548 and loved it. When I upgraded to my Tosh e540 it was the first program installed. unfortunatly it was the first software I tryed to install on my X5 wm2003 But I had Major problems, so I installed wisbar Adv. instead.

OK I missed them off my "additional Fetures" post.

Wisbar Adv. isn't as dificult to use as you make out, a couple of clicks and you can change the skins, change icons etc. I Swiched most of the addional Facelift features off on my Jornada 548 (SH3 processor @133Mhz) & my Tosh e540 (StrongArm @ 206Mhz), made it too slow on startup & wmp.

I use wisbar now. It's a great tool, don't get me wrong. But If I want a seamless full screen theme I need to make three files, etc.. facelift had a great theme maker that would handle it all, one file, no confi needed.

Wisbar is a great app too for sure.

I once bought Facelift too for my Jornada 54x, It's meant for skinning the Today screen on a PPC 2000 PDA.
It slows down too. And not many upgrades are released.

Wisbar (adv) can't skin the Today screen, only the bars and icons.

Peace,
Henk.
