Here's mine. Simple but functional.

I've had my Axim x50v for a little less than a year, but only now feel like I've gotten it to the point where I'm very satisfied with the layout and functionality of the today screen.

It was important for me to maximize its utility and not have a lot of wasted space. Some of the software that I have found in reading this site and others include:

Magic Button (Freeware) - adds icons to the navigation bar so that you know what programs are open, and allows you to easily switch between or close programs

Spb To Play (Freeware) - What a great find! can play my mp3s right from my today screen. Don't even have to bother going to WMP.

AM Tasks Plus (Freeware) The default tasks display for Windows mobile is so barebones that it's not even worth it. This software lets me display and access as many tasks as I want.

SpB Pocket Plus - Very happy with the tabs and having quick access to a lot of information and programs without having to go thru the Start menu. I've grown to like the battery meter at the top as well. Couldn't ask for more.

SpB Pocket Weather - since it works very nicely with Pocket Plus (can add as a tab), I love having weather info at my fingertips.

PHM Power Toys (Freeware) - adds icons to the menu (command) bar at the bottom of the screen. Somewhat redundant to what Pocket Plus offers, but I like it because it reminds me of a desktop computer.

One other change that I did which I really like is adding the date above the time. This was from a registry tweak that I found posted on this site. The fact that I was able to do most of this for free blows my mind. But I have to say it's been a lot of fun getting to know how to use my Axim and how to tweak it so that I get the most out of my Today screen.

And to top it all off, I love looking at the photo of my daughter smiling at me every time I use my Axim!

How did you move you BT and wifi icons?
How were you guys able to move your BT and wifi icons into the bottom bar? Is it a program or registry hack?

Hi Solsie,
How do you make images that blend into the today theme for the softkeys? Also, how do you skin the SIP and other buttons on the application bar? Your screen looks wonderful. Thanks!!

Hi patrick, I am using Wisabr Advance Theme, and that allows me to skin the bottom bar. The "other icons on the application" you referred ware from PocketBreeze.

Thank you the quick reply. Sorry about my unclear question earlier. Anyway, I was wondering how you created the image for the soft key and today bar that blends into the today theme. I'm currently using Vista Mobile, but it doesn't include the soft key images. Also, can you tell me how to skin the SIP button with WA?

I'm currently working on a Vista skin with softkey/SIP supporting images, but when testing the SIP doesn't change. I still have to contact Chris (developer of WA) regarding this.

Good eye! I had to modify both Vista Mobile and OSX2 to accomplish that. Basically, use clear buttons and cut some elements of the WA skins to match with the tsk image.

I don't know what SIP button you are talking about?

I will be looking forward to your skin!!! THANKS!!! Horray!!

BTW, I think their is some way to skin the SIP button with the current version. The the default skin the WA has "blue button" while other skin that doesn't skin the soft key and SIP has the system's default "grey/white button". However, I just can't figure how to change the graphic for SIP button.

Well, in the .skin file under '[Buttons]' you can find the following two tags:
sip=
sip_pressed=

Just make two images similar to normal menu buttons and name them sip.png/sip-pressed.png (or any other name) and add the value in the skin file and you should be set to go.
This isn't working in WM5 with me though.

Hi solsie,
What program did you use to create the image for soft key? Is it photoshop? Also, how do you "cut the elements"?I just love your vistamobile screenie. Maybe you can share your graphic for the softkey?

This isn't working in WM5 with me though.
Actually, I'm not smart enough to create a skin yet. I was just messing and tweaking with the vista skin under custom theme. There are some options in WA that seems to be for changing the SIP graphic, but they just won't work. However, I'm pretty sure that the default skin for WA skinned the SIP button. Maybe should compare the code for the default WA (latest version) skin with your skin?
