I've had my Axim x50v for a little less than a year, but only now feel like I've gotten it to the point where I'm very satisfied with the layout and functionality of the today screen.

It was important for me to maximize its utility and not have a lot of wasted space. Some of the software that I have found in reading this site and others include:

Magic Button (Freeware) - adds icons to the navigation bar so that you know what programs are open, and allows you to easily switch between or close programs

Spb To Play (Freeware) - What a great find! can play my mp3s right from my today screen. Don't even have to bother going to WMP.

AM Tasks Plus (Freeware) The default tasks display for Windows mobile is so barebones that it's not even worth it. This software lets me display and access as many tasks as I want.

SpB Pocket Plus - Very happy with the tabs and having quick access to a lot of information and programs without having to go thru the Start menu. I've grown to like the battery meter at the top as well. Couldn't ask for more.

SpB Pocket Weather - since it works very nicely with Pocket Plus (can add as a tab), I love having weather info at my fingertips.

PHM Power Toys (Freeware) - adds icons to the menu (command) bar at the bottom of the screen. Somewhat redundant to what Pocket Plus offers, but I like it because it reminds me of a desktop computer.

One other change that I did which I really like is adding the date above the time. This was from a registry tweak that I found posted on this site. The fact that I was able to do most of this for free blows my mind. But I have to say it's been a lot of fun getting to know how to use my Axim and how to tweak it so that I get the most out of my Today screen.

And to top it all off, I love looking at the photo of my daughter smiling at me every time I use my Axim!

Hey crash613,

You can get the items on top using the free program Magic Button. The three programs on top are the ones programs currently running.

I downloaded "SpB to Play" from SpbSoftwarehouse.com about 3-4 months ago. I just took a look but couldn't find it. Is it possible they don't offer it anymore?

Frank

Edit: Found it on Pocket PC Freewares - http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1376

It's worked great, and I've really enjoyed it. It shuffles through the music you have in your WMP library. Not sure if it's WM5 compatible, but I kind of doubt it.

Yeah I'm not sure if it does work on WM5 I downloaded it and have music in my Library I think, but I can't really figure WMP10 out I switch SD Cards for my music, I have WMP scan and build the library, I can only play one song at a time and If I exit WMP to the today screen the to play buttons does nothing. I'm used to TCPMP so this is foriegn to me.

Go to Library; Select on the top left, there is a dropdown menu arrow next to Library, check SD card; Update library, Search, done. Now the library will be updated with contents on your SD card.

If you want to create your PlayList manually (My preferred way) then use a free utility call PlayListEditor, use the import function to select the whole directory and save the playlist as .asx

If you launch this playlist asx then the whole playlist will play. The PlayListEditor can be found in the link below (WM5 is here to stay!..)

Thats SPB Time, I just change the Icon from the SPB Plus 3.1 Beta 4, they have lots of new icons that you can choose to replace your SPB plus default icons.
