Looking For Owner Info X v1.005
Hey, I can't seem to find a site to d/l Owner Info X v1.005. I have a new Axim X30. Will This software work on it? Is it outdated and that's why I cant find it now?

Any info or link to software would be great.

Link should be here: http://www.mypdacafe.com/%7Esillycat/ownerinfox.php, but it seems to be down right now.

I have a copy (attached), but I don't know if it'll work on an X50.
Attached Files:
File Type: zip ownerinfox.zip (14.6 KB, 50 views)

good post, but the photos do not seem to look right on my x50v...they are blurry and not clear like with a qvga screen, has to do with the double pixelation and the fact that the software was not designed for 2003 ppc. i have been in contact with the creator, and i think he is trying to come out with one for us vga-ers! stay tuned

Oh well, I hope he does update it! I don't have a VGA unit so I can't test it.

71, i had problems at first too....
COPY TO PPC to MY DOCUMENTS (both the DLL and .exe file)
go into FILE EXPLORER and TAP THE FILE - HIT INSTALL
WHILE IT's LEFT OPEN go to
START > SETTINGS > TODAY > ITEMS

SELECT - work your way through the options

******** OK NOW HERE's MY PROBLEM ********
When I select programs and so forth, and come back to the today screen the picture and information from OWNER X arent there.
After I tap the screen a couple times it comes back. Anyone else had a problem like this?

Here's the text of the readme file supplied with the program. It should have been in your ZIP file. Pay particular attention to #6 about tapping on the alien image!

I noticed that the link is still dead. I guess the MyPDACafe site has been removed? Or maybe they changed name servers and didn't setup a redirect?

IF you are updating from previous version of owner info x, the best is to run the
existing oixsetup.exe and tap on Uninstall follow by a soft-reset. Then continue
the steps below:

1. copy oixsetup.exe and ownerinfox.dll into a folder (can be
anywhere, eg: \program files\owner info x\)

2. tap on oixsetup.exe to execute it, a window popup showing
two options: Install, Uninstall. Tap on Install to add the registry
keys needed. Tapping on uninstall will remove the registry keys.

Click on "OK" after installation

3. tap on menu, open Settings -> Today -> Items
you should noticed that there's a new item "Owner Info X", make sure
its being checked.

** I suggest you uncheck the "Owner Info", and shift "Owner Info X" up
to where "Owner Info" is by tapping "Move Up" few times. **

You can configure the plugin by clicking on the Options button.

tap on OK to close the settings and go back to the Today screen.
now you should see the plugin sitting in your Today screen!

4. Okay, the next step is to make your own image. Create a thumbnail
of size 40x40 pixels (you can create for other than 40x40),
and save it as Windows BMP format, under one of your \My Documents folders.
(you can store under \Storage Card\My Documents )

5. Go back to the configuration page in Step 3, click on the ".." button.
This will bring up a file selection window for you to select the image
you want to display as thumbnail.

Tap on the image you just created to select it. You will return to
the options screen. Notice that the filename should now change accordingly.

6. Back to Today screen and tap on the alien image to refresh the plugin.

Find it too hard to understand?
Please check out http://www.mypdacafe.com/~sillycat/ownerinfox.php for instructions with screenshots.

for those of you with vga screens, aka x50v, please post whether you are getting clear images on your screen? i am not, they are blurry. mind you, i am not using se_vga or oz_vga...when i use those, i think the photos come out ok, but they are small.

My image is very crappy. Plus the thing seems a little buggy, it’s crashed twice. (Enough problems for me to go back to the stock version). I wish I knew how these apps are talking to the Today environment, I would try to write an application that did the same thing but for VGA Screens with my Visual Studio 2003.

Stuart,

It's not buggy at all! I've used it for over a year. But it's not designed for VGA! The OP asked about it for his/her X30, and I've used it on an X5. I also mentioned in my first post above that I don't know if it will work on an X50! Also, eugchen mentioned that he's been in touch with the developer and that thinks he's working on a VGA version.

Give him a break! It's a nice little free application - he's never charged anything for it.

If you can write a better one for VGA screens, please do! I think you'll have a lot of customers here!

(Will it be free? )

yeah he has been very nice to make us such a nice program, but like you said, it is not optimized for vga, but he is working on one. but i think he is real busy as well. also, it DOES work on the x50v, the image is just a bit blurry...
stay tuned for more news...

I'm affriad I trigger a bomb without reliezing it. I didn't mean I could write a better one. I was saying I wish I knew how he got as far as he did so I could try doing it. And maybe if this project had been cancelled I could invest some time in it.

p.s. Yes it would be free. And Open Source!

Ok, I have done EVERYTHING to a "T" on installing. My Doc Folder - EVERYTHING - 40x40 etc.

But when i start going through programs and hit the x's to come back to the TODAY screen - alot of the time the pic and txt i have which were previously there before i went through the menus, is gone .... just a blank spot where its supposed to be.
I ave to tap the screen several times to get it back.
