it is impossible to get a good today screen background
I'm trying to create a today screen theme for my dell axim and it is impossible to give myself a good background. I have a lot of great photos to use, but the problem is that the contrast varies too much and light or dark text is unusable for part of the pictures...... very aggrivating!

any tips/suggestions? I am using microsofts axim theme program.

You might try the McDeb theme generator program ....I think it has a free trial period.....I feel it has more flexibility regarding how to adjust various aspects of the theme when you are making one......I am not sure of the website but search for Mc Deb theme maker should work......

I found that taking a picture and lightening it up works. Otherwise most good photos have too uch light and dark, as you said. This may not be the look you are going for. If you keep your Today screen full, a boring solid color is good, too

Open the picture you want to use with the picture viewer software that came with the Axim, called "Pictures", go to tools and set the picture as the today wallpaper, set the transparency to '0' (or whatever you like).

Works great, and auto sizes the picture.

I use McDeb and I would recommend it, http://www.mcdeb.com/tmmcdeb/, only thing is it is not yet VGA or landscape but it is being worked on. You can download it and run it in demo mode. If you get stuck and want a theme created I would be happy to do it for you, just email or PM me.

That wipes the start menu background image and set it to be white instead. Is there a way to then set the start menu theme without changing the desktop background?

The one software that I would recommend is Kamware Thememaker SE, who happens to be the maker of McDeb ThemeMaker. However, Kamware is VGA compatible. You can download a demo version which should be more than sufficient to do what you need to do, and the output in colors is great.

If you don't a demo version, then let me know what kind of theme you would like and I will create one for you in VGA quality. Any requests?

I have the demo version of Theme Maker SE. It works great, but the word DEMO is written in big bold white letters across the theme on the Axim. Guess I'll hafta splurge for it (which is what they wanted me to do - lol).

I really miss ICBar. It skinned and changed fonts on the bars, and did an overall great job in a relatively easy-to-understand interface. I've heard that the developer hasn't been working on the program to make it VGA, so I guess I'll stick with Thememaker. Wisbar Advanced is just too complicated.

I use Wisbar Advance.

I set the look I want with Wisbar, then I use a background image of my choice.

most people use blank or boring backgrounds because they have so much stuff on the Today screen all the time. I dont know why anyone would need a 24/7 update of the weather. I check WeatherPanel once a day, then close it.

I'm still trying lots of different programs tho.
PM me if you want a good deal for Wisbar Advance or WeatherPanel.

it's called "spooning".
yea, but you gotta put the other arm somewhere. you can either lay on it or shove it in between your bodies; the only other option is to stretch it above your head. but sometimes my arm pops out of socket when I'm sleeping like that. so I was constantly searching for some place to keep my arm, while still laying close to her.
and?
what do you mean 'and'?! that's like a metaphor for a whole relationship.
