Microsoft Pocket 2002 Theme Generator Question
Hey all-

I was trying to use Microsoft Pocket 2002 Theme Generator to create my own theme. When tyring to place a picture for the today screen image, I browsed to the picture I wanted. However the picture was too long for the size of the screen and would be cut off. I want the WHOLE picture...I dont want to crop it. So I tried opening the picture and resizing it to half the original size. But when I opened it in Microsoft Pocket 2002 Theme Generator, it kept it the same physical size, just at a worse pixel rate. Is there anyway to make the picture itself smaller so that the whole image will fit on the today screen? Do i need special software? Help?!?

When you resize an image, you are just reducing the resolution. The end result is thus poorer quality. What you need to do is actually CROP the image to the dimensions you want.

But if I crop the picture, it will cut off parts of the picture that I want. Can I reduce the whole picture so it is smaller, and the WHOLE picture fits?

Sure, you can change the aspect ratio and have a squished or distorted picture.

240x268 is what you are looking for, so you need to reduce your item down to approximately that size.. You can find the height or width and pick which side has the least to lose (narrower) most likely the width of 240. Once you downsize to 240 you may see 240x298 or whatever.. at that point you will need to crop "30" pixels via top / bottom etc.. to make it fit.

There is no way to take a rectangular photo and make it vertical without cropping or distortion.
