WisBar Advanced vs. PPX

Ok... I'm reading about these two programs... trying to decide which is that Golden Task Manager app that I've been searching for!

So, is there anyone out there who has used both that can speak to the reliability of one over the other? As it is, I'm performing anywhere from 2 to 5 soft resets a day... with just the WM2003 Switcher Bar... I just want my Axim to work. :)

I'm going to download the trials of both and give them a whirl, but I wanted to solicit any informed opinions while I'm at it.

Thanks in advance for your input!

i actually bought ppx, but i waws kinda dissapointed with it. I found it slowed down the pda and made it more unstable. it was also kinda hard to find what you wanted quickly, although its more likely i just set it up wrong
I've also tried wisbar, but its the same story with that...
I've gone back to using the task switcher now, becuase its quick and stable, and gets the job done

I had Wisbar Advance 2 on my X3i and it worked beautifully. I did not have to do hardly any soft resets. However, I am noticing some lags and stalls on my X30h. I only have WisBar and PocketBreeze installed at this point, but I suspect it is the WisBar (if not the axim itself) that is the culprit.

Well so far, I've come to the conclusion that PPX is WAYYYYY more complicated and powerful than I really need. I'm going to continue using Wisbar Advanced this week and see how it goes.

I used PPX for almost a year. However, after I installed Wisbar Advance 2, I haven't looked back. It's a great program, it just wasn't for me. Especially since it still isn't quite VGA compatible.

I'm using WA2, it's great because it's compatible with VGA, and there are some great themes out there.
However, like ANY graphic program, it does slow down the machine a bit, but I think it's wirth it. And as far as CRASHING, I averagely need to do 1 soft reset a day.

Also there is that bug with the WIFI settings. When you open WIFI settings with WA2 opened, it will crash. However, I think that's a Windoes 2003SE bug, as it happens also with Magic Button.

(Plus I found you can rotate the screen to get your PPC back to life)

Well, I have been using WA2 for a full day now and I'm gonna stick with it. The only crash I've had is when I set the CPU speed too high with XCPUScaler...

Other than that, it's been incredibly stable.

WA2 crashing with WIFI? What are you talking about? I use both on my X30h all the time with no problems whatsoever. WA2 all the way! Lots of skins now, with more coming, great program.

I've been using WisBar Advance for a little while now. It does like to eat memory (all Today Screen plug-ins do to some degree), but I like it anyway.

Yes, Wisbar is a VERY good product. As a matter of fact, if PPX didn't exist that is what I would be running.

The Reports of Our Death Are Greatly Exaggerated..

On WMSE VGA and the PPX Alpha Version

Other than support of our current releases most of the work with PPX has been in the alpha forums these past months. What we did was address all the issues we could and add alot of new features, including for one, png support to reduce the size of themes even more. When the process is finished here, and michael has set a stopping point, we will replace the stable version entirely.

We are hopeful that people will enjoy the months of hard work put into this next version of PPX, and the additional features and improvements, as it is well beyond what PPX was in the past. Currently, if you are an owner and want to be an alpha tester then feel free to contact us. We've been lucky enough to have some really good testers. I hope this short report from me was helpful. Feel free to contact us via our site or email with any further questions. Keep an eye on our site for news.
