Best Place To Store Themes
I started to ask this in ken987 post but i didn't want to higjack his post. Where is the best place to store themes. I'm thinking BIS. I tried my CFC but for some reason they don't show up on the pda screen when I go to browse and locate each one.

If you want to store on CF or SD, you need to create a "My Documents" directory on the card. I store new themes I want to view on the CF card. I only keep one in the main memory. I found one I like and no others I have downloaded are better.

Do you mean making a new folder and name it My Documents?
Thanks

You can put all your custom themes in the /My Documents folder on your storage card. Do not forget to delete the "ignore my doc" file to take effect.

I'm paranoid, as my Axim has crashed on the go once, so I have all the .cab files of the programs I have on my X5, and a backup of my data, and also, my themes, on my SD card. Yes, you need to make a folder called 'My Documents' and delete the Ignore_My_Docs file. I keep as much as I can on my SD card in case something happens. Never be too prepared for a hard reset on the go...

Haha, a very good question. I am not sure myself. All I know is that if you wanna use a My Documents folder on a card, to delete that file. Other than that, I think it just tells the system to skip this card when scanning for a My Documents folder...

I put them in Main Memory - my docs on the PPC itself. That way if you remove your SD/CF card for any reason, the theme is still there. The file sizes are small and don't eat up much space.

if u don't have "MY Documents" on each device (main mem, BIS, SD, CF), it automatically generate a file called "Ignore_My_Docs"

u can ur "file explorer" to genereate "MY Document" folder, and delete that file "Ignore_My_Docs"

How do you get the CAB files of programmes that install from an EXE on the desktop? Is there a utility that will rip out CAB files from an EXE? EG: Pocket Informant - I'd love to keep a CAB file on SD, but how do I build one?

wherever the directory on the PC that you installed the program onto before copying the program to your Axim. Go into that directory and find the .cab file and copy it to your Axim...

the cab files are usually in the directory where you've installed the program. I.e. under \program files\microsoft activesync in your PC (not pocket pc); or a folder of the product name under \program files\.

I always have cab files on my SD card, in case i need a hard reset on the go as well. Rememeber, set the cab files to have "read only" attribute, or else after you installed the programs in the cab file within your pda, it'll get erased.

Here is a free program by S_K. It's a simple .exe that can be put in any folder anywhere. All you have to do is run the program and set it to associte with .cab files and make sure it's told not to delete the file, which is a checkbox. Then you can keep your cab file on your handheld and use it whenever without worries. I have this program on my SD card, and the first time you set it to associate, it launches automatically when you pick a .cab file...
