Not knowing the specifics of your problem, I can suggest several things...
Where are you placing the themes you downloaded on your X50v? Are they going into your My Documents directory? Thats where they need to go. Some exceptions to this (see below) but this is the standard location. I'm not sure I know what you mean by "applying" the files. They simply have to be copied over to the right location on your Axim
You can create a My Documents file on your SD or CF card and it should work there as long as you delete the ignore_my_docs file. Never tried this myself but I am told this will work.
You can put the themes in any directory you want if you use a third party theme manager such as ThemeDream or ThemeKing. This is what I do and it works great. I don't have Pocket Breeze so I don't know if this changes things or not.
Finally, and apologies if this is obvious, but you
are downloading .tsk files, yes? Some theme sites have them as zip files and you have to extract the .tsk files and copy those over before they will show up as an available theme.
