Themes

Hi,

I'm a newbie and I just received my Axim X50v on Monday! :) I'm just wondering how I can change the themes on my pocket pc. I'm using Pocket Breeze also. I've downloaded a few themes, but it's not showing up, even after I transfer the files and applied them. Could someone give me some pointers?

Click on Start > Settings > Today and choose from the list on the Appearance tab. I'm not familiar with using Pocket Breeze.

I know how to apply it to my Today screen, but the ones I downloaded don't seem to show up when I apply them.

Not knowing the specifics of your problem, I can suggest several things...

Where are you placing the themes you downloaded on your X50v? Are they going into your My Documents directory? Thats where they need to go. Some exceptions to this (see below) but this is the standard location. I'm not sure I know what you mean by "applying" the files. They simply have to be copied over to the right location on your Axim

You can create a My Documents file on your SD or CF card and it should work there as long as you delete the ignore_my_docs file. Never tried this myself but I am told this will work.

You can put the themes in any directory you want if you use a third party theme manager such as ThemeDream or ThemeKing. This is what I do and it works great. I don't have Pocket Breeze so I don't know if this changes things or not.

Finally, and apologies if this is obvious, but you are downloading .tsk files, yes? Some theme sites have them as zip files and you have to extract the .tsk files and copy those over before they will show up as an available theme.

Also, don't forget in Pocket Breeze to go to Settings > General > Skin and choose the skin you want to use. Click the green check mark (they call it the V sometimes ;p) and you should see your theme!

Also, for Pocket Breeze, you would save the theme to the pocket breeze skins folder!

I went to Start>Today on my Axim X30 and I only have 2 themes: Bliss and Windows Default

The beam/delete/browse buttons are there but kind of greyed out and I can not browse for new themes. Please help. Thanks!
