I'm having an ususual issue trying to get this particular skin (as well as others) to work on my x50v.
I follow all the directions and end up with everything looking right except for PocketBreeze (doesn't change skins at all) and the WeatherPanel (icons are really small circles instead of normal sized ones).
Anyone have any ideas? Everything else appears correctly (background, bottom left button and wisbar). I don't have pocketplus installed either. Just PocketBreeze, ContactBreeze, WeatherPanel and wisbar advance 2. Oh, and iLauncher, but that doesn't have skins.

@ Can you tell me to which exact folder you copied the actual skin BMP files on your device?

@ Where is PB installed? main memory or storage card?

@ Are you using any real VGA software like SE_VGA/OzVGA on your device?

Currently the files are in a folder called Black&White_pb in the PocketBreeze Icons folder. I have also placed that folder into the Skins folder and just the PocketBreeze folder all with the same results.


PB is installed in Main Memory


I have OzVGA installed and have used it once, but currently do not because iLauncher is too small with it on.

Edit: Oh, and if it help any, with the Black&White_pb folder in the skins folder, I can select it as a skin in the options menu but it still doesn't show up.

I need you to tell me where exactly the actual skin files are placed when you copy them.

BTW - they should go under the skins folder inside a separate folder for this skin. For example, all the skin files should go under:

\Program Files\SBSH\PocketBreeze\Skins\BlackWhite\

And under this folder you should have the actual skin BMP files and not under additional sub-directory.

That is exactly how it is set up. the bmp files are all in the black&white folder.

Are you sure you are using the VGA version of this skin and not the QVGA?

When using a VGA device, PB will need the VGA version of the skin and not the QVGA. QVGA skins won't work on PB and VGA devices try to see if the files on the skin folder look to you large enough to be VGA skin files and not the QVGA.

Viewing the bmp files on the x50 shows them looking the correct size. I also checked the weatherpanel icons since they appear really small on the today screen, but they came up looking the correct size as well.

I just used resco file explorer and clicked on the bmp files to view them.

I searched for the original install file for this theme and noticed that I only have the version 1.0 of this theme. Could I guess that this means that I don't have the vga version?
The wisbar looks fine as well as the bottom stuff so I'm not sure.

I did just try the gnomevga theme only on pocketbreeze though, and it didn't work either.
I'm all confused now.

Can you post me a screen shot of the skin folder inside PocketBreeze? this will allow me to see many things I need instead of keep asking more and more questions

I used windows explorer because I don't know how to capture a screen shot on the axim. But I think this way will show you more info at once.

Great!

You are using the QVGA skin, you'll need to install the VGA skin version in order for it to work.

If you wish to try first the VGA gnome skin you can check it on our VGA skins page:

Looks like you figured it out. The Gnome theme installed perfectly. Guess I'll have to get the vga version. It just confused me since the wisbar advance2 skin worked.
I thank you very much for your ongoing (and very quick) assistance with this problem. I have never got that kind of support from anyone before. It is greatly appreciated.

Great news Scoobypup all is working now

The reason the skin worked with WA is because WA stretches QVGA skins on VGA devices so both QVGA and VGA skins work with WA - but you will notice that the VGA version of the skin will look much better on WA because it won't be stretched anymore (which makes it a bit blurred).

BTW,
There's a post on the Weatherpanel site you may be interested in if you haven't already seen it. It contains a zip file of a B&W Theme to go with Juni's B&W icons. You'd just put it in the Weatherpanel theme folder.
