WMP10 Skins??
Where and how do I get different skins for Windows Media Player 10 (Mobile)??

I listen to alot of podcasts, and it is a pain shooting for the tiny default player controls while driving.

The MS website has the old skins up on the current WMP10 page, but I can't seem to get WMP to see them on my device.

Thanks
-Drew

WMP 10 + X50v
Reading through other posts on the topic it looks like this issues is specific to the x50V ... other people with the X50 are not having a problem.

Another post suggested that you NEED VGA skins, but didn't offer any links to where to find them.

Post suggested that UPOD skin works ... I found it on PocketGear
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14162

I see similar posts for the 4700 ... So I am guessing it is more about the VGA than the specific version of WMP we are running.

I found these links:

Three great VGA Media Player skins can be found here (work in both portrait and landscape):

That's because those skins were made for WMP 9. 10 added in some more code that those skins don't have and they don't work. I have been having this problem also. Unfortunetly I haven't found any that work with VGA devices yet. Several for QVGA but that doesn't do us any good.

If you want to add some fun iPod skins to WMP10:
http://www.megaone.com/fengwei/ppc.htm#uPod_Sliver

The author says these skins work with true VGA, but if you modify the skin file (w/Notepad) and change the fonts from 16,Tahoma to 8,Verdana then it works on 2003SE VGA too.

The only one I could get to work is by Wayne Mahon over at PurePockets.com Go over, sign-up and say hi in the forums, then download it. It only works truly well with Audio and doesn't have a landscape component but at least it's something different to look at.

AWESOME... I just edited the skin file (who knew it was that easy! Now the uPOD skin looks normal without having the UI supershrunk. Now I can edit the "techred" skin from Microsoft and get t to work on my baby!

open up the folder on your PPC that is:

/PROGRAM FILES/WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

and then copy the entire folder with all the skin files for that skin so that the directory tree reads:

/PROGRAM FILES/WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER/"SKIN FOLDER"

Then open WMP10M and go to the player screen (not the library screen) and select "OPTIONS" and then select the "SKIN" tab at the bottom of the options screen. Then press "PREVIOUS" or "NEXT" to selct the new skin.

I too have wanted to use a different WMP skin, so I downloaded the free uPod Silver to try out. As directed, I copied the files to /Program Files/Windows Media Player/uPod_Silver, but when I open WMP 10, the Previous and Next buttons are greyed out in the Skins tab under Menu->Options.

Has anyone else gotten this to work on an X50v (A02)?

I use it all the time... my preferred one.

I'm in process of converting it to look like Juni's B&W

Okay, so what am I doing wrong? Here's some screenshots that show where I have the files and that there are no selectable skins. Not a big deal, just frustrating as it's probably something ridiculously simple!

Try placing the uPod folder into a My documents folder on your SD or CF Card. I have mine on the SD Card and it shows up fine.
