Do you know a good theme app for x50v?
I used Animated Today with my iPAQ 5555 and really liked it. Small footprint, reliable, cute, didn't use up much memory, etc. I really like the animated themes on the today screen. I've also used Theme Dream and liked it on the iPAQs.

Gigabyte (not sure if that's the exact name or not) said Animated Today doesn't work on the x50v and to try Flash Dash. I tried it and bought it, but it takes up so much space & uses so much memory that I removed it and I'm not currently using it. Also, fairly often after a soft reset it came up with lines all over the screen and had to be reset again. Since I uninstalled it, I haven't had a problem.

I've sent an e-mail to Theme Dream support to see if it works with the x50v, but it's been a few days and I haven't heard back from them. Does anyone here know?

Is there a good theme application for the x50v? I don't mind paying $ if it doesn't take up too much space, memory, etc. It would be even better if it works off an SD card or in BIS.

Thanks,

Mona13

I just wasted money on PPX for the x50v, and PocketPlus just will NOT open a VGA theme. (I must be doing something wrong)'
I am very interested in the same thing as the first post!

Please help!

What do you mean Pocket Plus will not open a VGA theme? You just select the "themenameExtVGA" from the list like you would normally with a non-VGA theme using MS Theme Selector. The option is not actually in Pocket Plus itself.

Hope this helps a bit. Sorry but I don't know the answer to the first question. Usually programs tell you when you install them that they are not VGA compatible and may not display correctly.

Cheers

ThemeDream will work on the X50v. In fact, its what I use on mine. Its a bit flaky given that its an older program, but doesn't cause my Axim to be unstable or anything.

I've looked around and there just isn't that many good theme managers. Oh, theres a few, but I haven't found any with the same type of functionality I like in TD. Search the posts here and you'll find a few threads on this topic. Other people like ThemeKing and Theme Manager. There are a few others as well. You'll just have to decide whats best for you.

I copied the SPB Pocketplus VGA theme to my Axim, but when I go to the today screen to select a theme, it is'nt there. If I double click on the theme, it takes me to the today screen, but still is not on the list.

Do the Pocketplus themes have a .tsk extension on the filename? I don't have the program so I don't know. If not, the system theme selector will not recognize it as a valid theme. Also, themes must be in the My Documents directory. Just speculating, but it could be that these themes can only be launched from the Pocketplus application itself.

Hey man, I use ThemeDREAM, but I have a problem, it seems that it cannot handle VGA themes cos all the themes that I assign with it have the wallpaper tiled and repeated 4 times... Can you help me?
Thanx.

It sounds like you are using SE_VGA or ozVGA. I have had the tiling problem using ozVGA, regardless of whether I was using ThemeDream or not. Now, I don't use ozVGA or SE_VGA and I have no trouble displaying VGA themes using TD. Can you display the theme properly when you turn TD off? This may be more of "true" VGA problem rather than a TD problem.

Sometimes a soft reset helps solve this problem. Select your VGA theme and if you get the tiled effect, apply a soft reset.

If that doesn't work, use SEVGA to go to QVGA mode. Then using SEVGA, go back to VGA mode. I dont change my themes that often so this is not a major hassle.

I'm not using SE_Vga nor OZVGA....In fact I'm don't have any VGA utility installed....
What could be the problem?

Ah, now that you mention it, I did have a similar problem. When I first started using Themedream on my X50v I had no trouble seeing standard themes at the correct size. Then, after the A02 ROM update, the same old themes started loading up as 2x2. VGA themes loaded OK. Then, the problem just went away and it now loads up standard themes just fine again. Unfortunately, I didn't actually do anything to fix the problem, it just fixed itself. Weird.

You might try going without a theme manager for a few days, or trying another one. You also could take the nuclear option (AKA a hard reset), but that didn't work for me as I recall. Sometimes Windows is just strange...
