I noticed that if I open the pic file and set it as wallpaper, the wallpaper quality becomes much worse and contains alot of noise than simply going to the Today setting screen and browse that file to be the wallpaper. Why is that?

I assume you have a x50v, right ?

It's because the built-in picture viewer is NOT VGA-aware, so it will resize your picture to QVGA... Sad but true. If you use a 3rd party pix viewer (like Resco Photo Viewer), the wallpaper will be allrigt.
