You just copy the TSK file to the \Windows folder. If more files are involved an instruction file will tell you where to put them.

Easy...

I have always found the easiest way to install a Today Theme is to browse to the file that you downloaded on your computer (not your PPC) and then right-hand click the file (if it is a *.tsk file. If it is a *.zip, then unzip the file first). Choose Send To -> Pocket_PC My Documents. It then copies the file over the the My Documents folder on the Activesync. As long as you are synchronzing the Pocket_PC My Docuements folder, it will copy over the next time you sync.

Very easy (hopefully)

Best of luck!

tmn72,

I too have always done it this way. Have you encounted any difficulties with the tsk installation. Usually you selected it from the today settings a wammo it is done. I have been trying to pinpoint what in the world is wrong with my stocks and weather themes not installing properly. As I understand it today themes or tsk files can be stored in a number of places such as windows documents or program files for stocks and weather and they will be found. However, when s and w today trys to enable a new theme through automatic theme rotation, I get the Save As screen dialog. What is up with that? Any thoughts?

I'm Not Sure...

AximMom,

I'll be honest, I have played with PPCs for sometime, but have never tried to save a theme to a different location.

I know that when I used to use PocketFacelift, I could specify where to look the themes, but I haven't used that software in YEARS!

Someone else out there want to enlighten us? Is is it possible to save the Today themes elsewhere? I did a search on the site, but didn't see anything...

Thanks!!

tmn72,

The weird thing is I never recall being asked after I selected a theme to save it anywhere. As I recall, I have always just tapped it or gone to today settings and selected it with no dialog ever appearing asking me to save anything...weird.

You can save them in any My Documents folder. So if you create a My Documents folder on your SD or CF card and place the themes they will show in the list of today themes. :)

I have tried to do that several times on my CF card. No luck, it only works in my main memory. :realmad:

Love to find a solution to this!!!!

Do you have a file called "Ignore My Documents" on your CF card. If you do this will stop the OS from looking at your card for any my documents info. Delete this file and everything in the My Documents folder should show up.

This is a hidden file. You can use your desktop to see it if you don't have a good explorer on your PPC.

Wow, spoke to soon!!! It seems that after moving all of my .tsk files to my CF/my documents folder, the only .tsk files it wants to use are the ones in my windows folder. When I go to settings/today I see all of the .tsk files there but using the icon on my today screen to change themes won't switch them. I am using spb pocket plus 2.5. Any ideas. My objective is to reduce to memory usage on my main memory.

That has to do with the way Pocket Plus changes themes. It expect themes to be in the windows file. I'm not sure if there is a way to tell it that there is .tsk files in another location. If you use the standard switching technique it should work fine.

Would a theme manager work?
