Syncing my Hotmail

When I was trying to sync up my email, the only options I got were for POP3 or IMAP, but there is no HTTP option for hotmail. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

How about this program called Pocket Hotmail. Doesn't work great, but it at least lets you sync your hotmail.

Not that I know of, but you could "convert" you yahoo mail to a pop account...

Onemail Trial does not work

Hi Guys,

Just to update. I have tried downloading the trial version of the One mail program only to realise that the trial is meant for Palm users. As such, there is no way of knowing whether you are going to like the program or not.

I am in the midst of trying out pokethotmail program(much cheaper! only $5). Will post if I find anything interesting worth sharing.

Cheers

Download Yahoo Messenger for PocketPC

I downloaded Yahoo Messenger for PocketPC at Yahoo Messenger for PocketPC and it put a PocketPC optimized Yahoo page in my favorites. You can probably just go the Yahoo page without loading Yahoo Messenger for PocketPC. The URL is: http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/ One of the links on this page is "Mail." I check my mail all the time here. It has some limitations (like you can't delete an email without viewing it first), but isn't too bad. BTW tap "Sign In" first then "Mail", otherwise if you tap "Mail" first you will have to "Sign In" twice.

Found the Onemail Trial

:D I have installed it onto my Axim and the first time round, it works perfectly ie it manage to download my mails from MSN server to the Axim. Subsequently new mails came it but when I active sync it to my laptop and try downloading again, this time it does not work. I will try a few more times before confirming. One thing I do notice is that whatever mail that was downloaded to Axim was not updated on the server side. Which means to say even though I delete my mails on my Axim, the MSN server still keeps the email intact. This really defeats the purpose.... Well at least from my perspective. Maybe, they should come up with a version whether to sync with the server or not. If I need to go to my email account on my laptop just to delete away my read mails, I might as well read it there. Hmm....

I have done my testing on the PocketHotmail thing. It seems promising but after login, authorizing and sending message 1 of 1(I tried to send a email), my Axim just freezes. I tried a few times and it does not work.:crooked:

I guess after all these time, it is back to square one.... Checking the mails on my laptop... sigh....

I had the same problem with the trial version of Pocket Hotmail freezing up whenever I tried to send messages with it. I still use it as an offline-way of quickly referencing emails, but whenever I have to send email mobilly (is that a real word?), I go to MSN Mobile through PIE.

Does anyone know if the full-version of Pocket Hotmail freezes when sending emails?

Pocket Hotmail

Mine has never freezed, though it is slightly cumbersome if you want to check email quickly, etc. Why not get a free fastmail account, which uses IMAP? Or pay for a pop3 account from somewhere. I use msn and hotmail addresses if i buy stuff on the net, etc, so as to limit the spam in my personal and business addresses.

Here's a link I found digging through the archives of this forum. I haven't downloaded it as I haven't yet received my Axim from UPS(damn memorial day weekend) But it only costs 3 bucks and it looks a lot more promising than Pocket Hotmail or OneMail(which I used on palm and it sucked). If someone wants to try it out please post, if not I'll buy it in a few days and give an update.

On further inspection, it is by the same author as Pocket Hotmail. Its just an early release maybe? For a cheaper price. Interesting.

I just got the trial version of OneMail. My main interest is being about to read email on my Axim while not connected. I have a YahooMail account that is the main one that I am interested in accessing in this manner. I also have an MSN account which am also interested in using with my Ax (but this is less crutical to my mission). I would prefer to have one application to do all of that. The problem that I am having is that although I was able to sign in and access my MSN account I was not successful with my Yahoomail account. I tried several time and I fear that the yahoo folks may have done something so that this program will not work and I will have to spend the 19.99/year. (By the way, is it just wrong in a moral sense to try to use this program in this manner instead of paying for the Pop mail service? Also are is anyone know if this program (or a similar) allows you to select or set settings for how many or which emails are synched to the axim? I tend to store messages in my inbox on my accounts instead of moving them to another folder and I do not wish to have all of that email put on my Ax (or have to modify my habits re: my inbox).

check out a service called IzyMail at www.izzymail.com

I believe it costs 20 dollars one time fee for the software and service to use 2 services, yahoo and MSN.

If you only want to do one service its something like 17 bucks.

This allows you to access all or some of your email on yahoo, hotmail, msn, or aol mail in programs like outlook or on your pocket pc.

You can use it through outlook and let activesync download it from outlook to your pocket pc or you can set up your pocket pc inbox to retrieve it during active sync and not have the mail go through outlook.

It is absolutely great and has a 30 day trial to check it out. I've used onemail before and this totally kicks its @ss.
