What are you trying to play the file with? I'm just guessing but it could be that you do not have the correct codec installed to recognise the file. The best media player is TCPMP - freeware (formerly Beta Player), I use this for all music and video playback. Try installing this and then try to play the file.

On a side note if your not currently using it the best way to rip and encode DVD's is FairUse Lite all you need is to add the the DivX codec to your PC and this and it works a treat.

Ok, i think pocket divx encoder is the best free app, and DVD catylyst is very good but you have to pay. I used to have kimg's problem its that activesynch is being stupid. I think if you also follow this tutorial you should also speed up your pda, as well as sorting out your problem
