Hi Beemer,

I've tried to download your XScaleMonitor from your website (http://personales.ya.com/beemer/xscalemonitor.htm), but it seems that the file is corrupt (the downloaded file is only 7.5kb)? Could you check this please?

I really want to try out your utility!

Thanks a bunch,
Tim

Hi again,

Sorry... I guess it really IS that small!! That's cool!

Off-topic question:
On your page you have a screenshot of the top of your screen; what is (are) the utilty(ies) that shows the battery, 00:00e 321 mA, red button, green square, etc... in the taskbar?

So, my question is this: is it more efficient in terms of battery life to use XCPUScalar's scaling or the X51v's automatic built-in scaling? I'm not sure if XCPUScalar is worth it or not.

IMHO it's not worth it. Just use the built-in CPU frequency setter - it definitely won't result in excess battery consumption (XCPUScalar is reported to cause the latter).

Not on X5

Doesn't seem to work on an X5 (always 0mA) . . . unless I'm doing something wrong . . . (B.T.W. neither does XScaleMonitor, something way up top off screen happening, that's all)

"Note that the application will not work (will only display 0 mA's no matter what you do) with several PDA models - for example, the iPAQ 2210 (example screenshot here). "

I figured the same here.
Actually bought xcpuscalar with the mood, that it will save battery.
And it does NOT.
And I dont need to raise cpu-speed as 624 is way enough :-)

I must admit, I had more problems with my device running on xcpuscalar than it helped me.
So it is now deinstalled.

Regards
Fly

The reason that people think that IR uses more power is because the screen where one shuts it down says, specifically, that leaving it on consumes more power.

Yup, this warning is not up-to-date any more now that I've benchmarked all these.

I'd file a bug report, but M$ doesn't think that bugzilla is all that nessecary for their work.

They're aware of the problem - hope they will get rid of the (misleading) text.

Technically, they're not wrong.

But in practicality, they are. But they do have to cover their butts otherwise some moron, or his moron lawyer, will sue Microsoft for not posting the statement on the IR settings because he lost some important information (even though the IR setting really had nothing to do with it). :)
