Question Remove Solitaire?

Just wondering if there is a way to remove Solitaire from the Axim. These particular hand-helds will be used in a restaurant, and we don't want the waiters/waitresses sucking up battery power by playing games during downtime.

I am afraid it is part of the operation system and cannot be removed.

You may, however, remove the shortcut to the program, so that it cannot be accessed via the "program" menu. This would not stop determined or computer literate staff from playing it though.

Anything that you see after a hard-reset cannot be removed manually.

You can spam MS and force them to remove that damn thing from their next OS release. ;)

Ok, I found that Solitaire is programmed into ROM, so it is not removable. One newsgroup poster claims you can overwrite it with something else though. Anyone familiar with this?

Also, just removing the shortcut to it would be good enough, but that doesn't seem to be an option using the File Explorer program.

I just removed the solitare short-cut from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games\ using File Explorer. It should work...

There may be a way to hack the registry to make the system think that solitaire is not a valid app. I dunno though, just throwing ideas out.

Yeah, I've seen postings on Usenet regarding registry hacks on the Axim. Don't think I want to put that much effort into it though. I think removing the shortcuts should be good enough for this situation. Maybe in the future when I have more time I can mess with things a little more.
