X51 default password program - is mine being silly?

Hello,

I'm not sure which forum to post this in, and this one looked like a decent spot...

I've noticed that after powering off and repowering on my X51v, I am not prompted to enter a password. However, if I instead power on the unit the next day after using it, I do get the password prompt requirement. My issue is that this could be a huge security risk once I start loading in all my personal information. Is there a timeframe we can set to say that the password prompt should come up even if the unit is only off for say, 1 minute? I don't want to use the unit, turn it off, drop it in a busy shopping mall, and then have someone be able to simply turn it on and see all my info without being asked to enter a password. If this someone picked it up off the floor a day after I dropped it, i guess I wouldn't have a problem. But chances are, it would be within 30 seconds if I dropped it and if this person was malicious, they would keep it for themself and try it out immediately and have access to everything. Hope I'm making my question clear. At this point, while I'm just starting to use the thing, I'm not really into the idea of loading a bunch of password protect software on it or that type of demanding "upgrading" work. I would hope that with all the dollars I spent buying the unit, it would have a decent, workable, safe, and timeframe-adjustable password feature as a default program. What might I be missing or not understanding how to work on the default password feature?

Thanks in advance!!
Brian

Hi brianm80,

Start>Settings>Password>enter your password: now you can change the "Prompt if device unused for" time from 0 minutes to 24 hours.

Appreciate your concern ...
Why don't you crypt your most sensitive info ?

There are a LOT of programs for this out there ...
I'm using Tombo ... freeware

Thanks guys. I'll try those recommended settings to change the time interval.

As for encrypting my data, that just sounds a little complicated for this novice. I guess I'd say almost everything would then need to be encrypted, so that leaves me with the question of "is there an easy way to password protect the entire device?", which leads back to the original question I posted. If I understand encrypting correctly, it does not quite seem to be the way to go for what I'd want. But thanks for replying! I was wondering if the question was stupid since many days passed before anyone responded!
