How can I make programs close when I click X instead of minimize?

When I click the X at the top right to close a program it just minimizes. the only way I found to close is to go to task switcher but its a pain doing it every time.

Might want to try out icbar. Quick tap on the X quits the program. Long tap and hold minimizes it. It also is customizable so you can get it to look XP.

FYI, Wisebar is the basis for Icbar. The Wisebar people decided not to continue the development of Wisebar and offered the code to others. Icbar has taken the Wisebar to new heights.

Icbar is definitely worth the price - free. One question to Schrags11 is how do you set it to look like XP?

Cool

I read this somewhere on this forum so I am not taking credit for this.

To completely close a program and not just minimize it you can do the following.

You have to use the keyboard and while the program is open hit "ctrl" then the letter "Q" and the program will close completely.

I don't know about you, but when I'm in an application, and I click the Start button and then, while the menu is dropped down, then click "X", then it closes my apps. This works on every app I've tried, but it didn't work on a friend's Axim, so good luck - very quick and easy to close programs!

Oh, yeah I remember this too well and still works well. Just not with a few apps like Start->Help. For some reason it just doesn't work with help.
I saw this post that dates back in April 19, 2003 on the Coolest Axim Tricks? thread. ;) and you don't have to install or purchase another program because it's already there.

Magic Button is also a great progam if that is the only functionality you want to change, otherwise I'd go with Icbar or Wisbar.

Sorry for being an idiot about this. If Task Switcher is on top and you want to close your program, instead of hitting X just tap the switcher and tap 'exit current program'. It does take 2 steps tap and tap. I have tried Magic Button and it creates certain conflicts with some apps. ICBar is a better app.

So far used magic button. Works like a charm! However I just converted to Wisbar Advanced (superior to ICbar according to a review on this forum) where you can actually decide what happens to programs when you click the X-button.
It's great!

Regards,
Peter

Icbar is great. Thoroughly recommended. Whose idea was it anyway to have an X button that only hides memory sucking programs? Good work Microsoft. (Heavy dose of sarcasm at the end there.)
