You shouldn't need to select any of the adapters - the one present will be the one that is used (but you are right, the Socket SDIO WLAN Card is "it"). The default setting is for DHCP which should work.
I'm not sure where you are finding some of the settings you are referring to but you should check the WiFi How-to linked from my signature for details on setting it up..

Thanks for the advice, still having some problems. Maybe this better explains my situation:
The Axim X3 finds my SSID, and shows as "connected" (the link light on the wireless adapter only blinks) for about 20 seconds, then switches to "Available" I do not obtain a IP address from my router.
I guess I'm looking for reason why my Axim wouldn't be able to obtain an IP. Also why I remain "Available".
I checked out http://wifi.aximsite.com/alternate.html. I read over the Adding WiFi to and existing Ethernet (wired) Network.
I have altered the "Work" and "Internet" settings. WEP is not enabled on my AP or the Axim.
I have both a Linksys router and AP, both with the most current firmware versions. I currently have no security settings in place, and plenty of open DHCP numbers to assign.
I have a laptop connected to the wireless network and it connects to the AP just fine. Computer to computer the Axim connects to the PC just fine, so I've ruled out a defective wireless net card. (However I do not wish to set my network up this way).
And lastly, I have an Axim X3 with a socket 802.11b card. Currently running windows mobile 2003.
Any suggestions before I jump out the window? :)

Total Wireless Sync over the Web?
This is one of the best posting for wireless information I have seen, now that I have my AXIM X30 running and sync'ng wireless, I thought I would ask if anyone has thought of the following..
I have a desktop with XP Pro, a notebook with WiFi running XP Home and now my Axim. To have my wireless devices sync to the desktop MS Outllok and contacts both at home and on the road does not seem possible. I have read some FAQ's on using the Axim, and not sure I understand all of it, but sounds like I have to set up a vpn to the desktop through my Dell Wireless Router..but there does not seem to be any info on notebooks. Do anyone have a link that is complete to do both the PPC and the Notebook? TIA

Has anyone gotten internet access on their X30 using a wireless router and sharing a dial-up connection? Yes, I've checked out the guide and everything but I'm still alittle lost. I'm not new to networking, but this PPC stuff is about as clear as mud. I've tried just about every single combination and still nothing. Yeah I can browse my shared drives on my computer. Yes Powersaving was off (and tried it on too) SSID broadcasting is enabled and I get a valid IP address from my router (MN-700) via DHCP. No WEP or MAC filtering. ICS is enabled and working (my brother can use my dial-up connection from his computer). Is it in my proxy settings that's causing this mess? Anything else you'd need to know to help a fella out?

Is your brother sharing the web access by connecting to the same router? And, if so, by wireless or Ethernet?
It’s my understanding that if you are using ICS, the easiest setup is to disable the router functions and just use it as an access point. ICS on the PC would then be assigning the IP numbers to everything or, if you want, you can use static IPs as long as the ICS virtual router on the PC is 192.168.0.1. This acts as the gateway and DNS server (although you can enter your ISP’s DNS numbers and bypass the middleman). The router would likely be 192.168.0.2 and any other connected devices would have the last digit sequentially larger. The one thing I’ve never been sure of in this situation is if you should have the cable from the PC connected to the WAN port or one of the LANs. I suspect it should be the second unless you are using a crossover cable but it’s easy to try this both ways.

Yeah, my brother is connecting to the router wirelessly. I'm connected to the MN-700 router via a straight-through cable to the number one LAN port. Lets see:
Router IP is set to 192.168.2.1
DHCP is enabled. DHCP assigns numbers 192.168.2.23 to my LAN port while my dial-up adapter assigns whatever IP it feels like today to the dialup port. (All subnets are 255.255.255.0 unless its on the dialup side of my computer)
192.168.2.83 gets assigned to my X30 (which despite my troubles is STILL an AMAZING machine!) And my brother's computer is assigned another random IP. (He can connect just by hitting IE on his computer.)
I've tried using my router as a default gateway, and all those other settings, I've tried using my Dialup adapters DNS and Gateway settings on the PDA. Various other "Work" and "My ISP" settings at random. Still nothing. I am curious about these proxy settings though. I'm not sure on the format but I attempted to setup portforwarding on my router opening up my HTTP port 80 to see if PIE could get through. Nada. On a side note...I CAN connect to and use my routers GUI through my X30 AND I am able to fully browse my home network's shares. And last time I tried setting my router to "Access Point" mode I couldn't use it anymore. Heh. Yeah, hard reset here we come. Anything else you'd need to know to give me an idea? The ability to use AIM around my house is taunting me heavily...

Have you disabled PowerSave in the WLAN on the Axim? If you haven't upgraded to the latest ROM, you may need to get SilentKnight's app for turning it off.

Yep! I got the utility from SilentKnight and it is definately off. Noticed a big difference when I was browsing my computers files from downstairs. Props to him, eh? Still think its odd that I can hit my internal IP's and roter's GUI but not get out. You know of anybody who has a similar setup and might know how to configure the proxy settings? I'm thinking its either a gateway or DNS config error since everything else is cool but I can't hit the web. If you want to see my ipconfig /all screen just PM me. I like these people...but I'm not stupid enough just to post 'em! :-)

I really don't think you should need a proxy set up but I don't know anyone that has set up this way besides a user, snathanb, here some time ago with an X5. It's his setup I described above which is also in the WiFi Guide under alternate setups.

Just some more info: using pocketWinC, Ministumbler, DELL WLAN app, and Odyssey Client to check settings on the PPC. All can associate, get IPs, and otherwise communicate w/ router and other networked devices. pocketWinC still can't get to an outside IP though.

He hasn't posted here since February but do a search on his name and look at his profile. If he has the same email, he'll probably respond.

I had WinME, and would periodically have dial up connection problems (connected, but could not access internet). I would call up my internet provider, and get bunches of things to do. The last person I talked with told me WinME is not too good with networking. He told me to open up the network settings, and remove everything; reboot; go back to network settings, and add everything back (you'll need you WinME disk for this). This worked everytime. I am using Win2000 here at work, so everything is different, so I don't remember exactly what it was I would remove (I think networking or local network, and IP).
Hope this helps a little (sorry I don't have more details, its hard to remember how to fix problems I don't have anymore).
