This post is pecifically for those with pre-A12 ROMs which do not have the option under Start * Settings * Connections * USB to PC, (which must be unchecked).

See my instructions in my thread here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?p=1285768 and/or Chris's walkthrough - the important thing to download (AT YOUR OWN RISK) is http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...yncMode.sa.CAB which will allow you to switch from RNDIS to Serial, thus enabling you to sync with WMDC.

Otherwise, without running the patch and switching to Serial, the Axim will connect to the PC, but it won't set up a partnership nor sync any data, despite the dummy "Synchronized" status or "Connected" status, which are, in this respect, meaningless.
