I will be flying to Atlanta on Tuesday evening and have never travel by plane with my Axim.
Is it ok to send it through the x-ray machine or does it need to be checked by hand? I have a couple of SD data cards, CF data card, CF Holux GPS, and CF Socket WiFi card.
Now to load up somethings to occupy my 2 hour plane ride.:D
When I carry electronics I usually put them in the little plate, then the guard will ask you to turn it on, and then (as long as your battery works) you're free to go.

Mine goes through the x ray machine numerous times a week with no ill effects. And I always check it about 30 min's after take off when I input the informations from the current flight. So it doesn't seem to be a problem, and I fly through Atlanta 6 or 7 times a month.

Axim + X-ray....BAD!
You should protect all electronics against x-rays!
I asked a transit authority person this last month and his answer was that he saw 10,000 of these go through the machine each day and there haven't been any complaints so far. I believe the reason they tell you not to put them through the machines in some planes is because bomb circuitry could easily look like computer circuitry and its just easier to show its a computer by turning it on.
Never had a problem sending it through an X-Ray machine. The only reason you aren't supposed to send laptops and other large hard drive hardware through a machine is that they use magnetic storage (i.e. Hard Drives, Floppy Disks, etc.). Everything in the Axim, however, is solid state memory (unless you're using a MicroDrive).....so you don't have to worry about anything being erased by the X-Ray machine.
As a side note, I go through the X-Ray machines at Atlanta Int. Airport about once every 2 months with no problems getting the Axim through.

I travel every week, and my Axim and laptop go through the xray machine twice a week, every week. I've been lugging the laptop for 2 years, the Axim since December, no problems. Before that I had a Casio that I carried for over a year, xray'ed twice a week, faithfully, no problems. You have to take the Laptop out of the case, but I usually leave the Axim in my laptop bag as it goes through Xray and I've never been challenged at Washington Dulles; Columbia, SC; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Rochester, NY; SFO; Denver; Washington Reagan National; Orlando, FL; Tampa, FL; London Heathrow; Newark, NJ; Phoenix, AZ. I think that's a fair sample of airports.
What about a WIFI capable router? I'm want to set up WIFI here and my home and since most things are cheaper in the US I'll buy the router there - I'm not going to pack it in my check-in luggage as that would cause problems in more than aspect - So I will carry it with me on the plane - Will the x-ray machine hurt it?
Sheesh - I'll be a traveling network - Laptop, Ax, WIFI router, and cards... :)

Judging by your posts I can only imagine what it was like for him growing up...(Said with a grin and shaking the head)
I think the one post that cracked me up the most was when I posted about wrapping my Ax in saran wrap until I got my screen protectors and you replied - "WHERE DO YOU USE YOUR AX?!?!" HAHAHAH

not to brag ....but I have worked for a major carrier for over twenty years. And have had extensive dealings with x-ray/mags/sniffers/wands/dogs....you get the idea.
x-rays aren't the prob for magnetic media(your memory), it's the magnets in the mags (magnetometer, the metal detectors you walk through) and wands(the plastic hand held devices they scan your persons with). It will erase or corrupt your memory. Keep it as far as possible away from both. But be reasonable and cooperative. You can be within several feet of them and still be pretty safe. Just be prepared to turn it on and make it do something and yes run it through the x-ray. same for the router.
Well being a professional x-ray machine tester... some times three or four times a day... my Ax is holding up real well. Hadn't thought of the password thing though... good catch. I'll get on it.
edbro... you call that an airplane? I'd be ashamed...lol it get's bird strikes in the exhaust!!!
The last few months I have been to London, Edinburgh, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Memphis and Tampa.
Told security I had a PDA in my camera bag (no film only card)
Went through fine. Used the Dell on the flight to listen to music, etc. No problem.
Problem that I see is with WIFI in airports too many services - Wayport, Boingo, etc. Everyone wants a fee including hotels. I have t-mobile access and it was virtually non useable in airports.
