Ok thanks... but I also tried doing a reset on my PC. Close down ZoneAlarmPro... do the intructions and when I tried to connect using Media Player - I get the same error. I tried to connect to the Internet and was able to... I also use VNC and works great. Do you think even with ZoneAlarmPro close down it still running from the background? Then if that is the case... all I need to do is allow port 8080 to broadcast, right?

Thanks for all the help.

If that is the broadcast port that you are using, then yes.

Make sure that you are using a URL of http://<desktop ip address>:8080

Well tried everything and I still could not make it to work. I just re-formatted my pc and I haven't install any firewall software. Did the instructions to broadcast and I keep getting the "File not Available, Make sure you are connected to a network" error. And like I said I am connected and able to browse the internet using my ipaq.

Well it just occured to me, do I need to have active sync connected via wifi for this to work? or it really doesn't matter if i am connected or not. Right now my only connection to my pc is when I place my ipaq to the cradle. Let me know... thanks!!!

You do not need activesync at all to broadcast TV to the PPC. What version of WME are you using?

Also please list the options that you are using in WME.

okay... Media Encoder is version 9.0. I have a Linksys Wireless Router and a Sandisk 128+ WiFi CF Card.

* To broadcast I open Media Encoder select "Broadcast live event"
* Then I configure video to channel I want to broadcast and select Video Tuner on the Input drop down list. Did not change Audio.
* Then under Broadcast Method I select "Pull from Encoder"
* Then on broadcast connection I left it under default port of 8080 and I copied the URL connection for both internet and LAN. This is what I need to type on the Media Player URL, right?
* Then encoding options are as follows:
video: multiple bitrates video (CBR)
audio: multiple bitrates audio (CBR)
Then bitrate is 282 Kbps 29.97 fps 320 x 240
* Then No Acrchive File, No video include file, and then Finish

Then I could see a small screen with TV show... Lastly, I open Media player on my ipaq... click Tools - Open URL - typed: http://192.168.1.103:8080 and OK - error message popup "A network problem occured playing this file. Verify that you are connected to the network, and then try again."

I am connected to the network as far as I am concerned since I can surf using PIE and I can use VNC. So what am I doing wrong?

THANKS!!!

Check your network setup by going to Start -> Settings -> Connections Tab -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks.

Make sure that both dropdowns are set to "My Work Network". Then click on Edit and goto the Proxy Settings tab. Make sure that "This network connects to the Internet" is checked.

Yup Network setup is on "My Work Nerwork". I swear the error keeps on popping up. You know I noticed something weird on Encoder. On the General Tab on the Output section the entire progress section is empty and most of the other tabs doesn't contain any info... is that right?

OK... I won't laugh.

hehehe...
I lied! Just kidding.

There really isn't know quick and easy way to change channels without going in and changing the profile using this method.

This thread hasn't been active for a month or so but I just wanted to thank whitelyt for this this thread. I set this up with no probelms with this quide...

I like the fact that i can also use it on my laptop and other computers too.

it really is sorta just for the geek factor as i dont have cable tv (only public channels) but it really is impressive!

thank you microsoft for making encoder free!

hehe... One of the few things that we get free from Microsoft.

And you're right. This doesn't just work for PPCs but you can use laptops and desktops to view your stream as well. I just like the fact that I can be very mobile with my PPC and watch my favorite TV show.

Hopefully I am understanding your question accurately.

I don't know of any services on the internet that broadcast live TV channel streams. There is live radio but I don't know of live TV. This thread covers TV channels that you can capture on your PPC and then broadcast that feed out to the internet or your wifi network.

It should be; it is just a video stream. You PPC will try to decode the stream to play but if you use WME for other streams, WMA or WMV files, then you should be fine. I would also be careful about the bitrate that you would choose. Some tweaking would be done on your part to choose the right bitrate for your device and your wifi network.
