Haven't tried it on an H6340 but if you can get the correct language ROMs and the files required are there then yes, I don't see why not. You will have to keep in mind that the .nbf file will have a different name as what I have written so just find how each language .nbf file is named and then change them accordinly.

The steps in my "My PDA" section are what I am talking about, just making sure!!

1. What do you mean with the language ROMs ? Is that the one that I can download from HP's site ?

2. After I've updated the ROM do I then need to do somthing with Windows Mobile 2003 ? Or is ROM <=> Windows Mobile ?

1. Yes the language ROM are the files that you download off of the HP site. They have their language in brackets. you will need the ROM language the device is currently in and the ROM language that you want your device to be in.

2. The ROM is Windows Mobile and so once you have done the language change there is nothing to do. It will all be done for you.

Umm, I have a 5450/5455 ipaq, and its in German when i bought it. How do i make it English? I downloaded the English driver or w/e off of hp.com, but well, this is what it says when i try to install it...

The ROM image is incompatible with your device. Verify that the ROM Update being used is for your handheld model and language.

...and then it doesn't allow me to click "Next".

Not all versions of RUU have hidden buttons.

RUU.exe (for h5450) - HAVE! See the first post.
RomUpdateUtillty.exe (for h1930,1940,3715) - have NOT!
UpgradeUt.exe ( for h3970, h2210 ) - HAVE!
GWupgradeUt.exe (for h2210) - HAVE!

But:
SP26136 for h2210 (ROM version 1.01.01ENG) does not have file GWbackup.exe - WANTED!

SP27073 for h2210(ROM version 1.10.07ENG) does not have file GWFlashUtility.exe - WANTED!

I had a near death experience with a Chinese Version H2210 I wanted to convert to English.
I had downloaded the latest English Language Update from HP, thinking it would be no drama to flash the bios.. WRONG... Hence I found my way here.
I tried the Enabler program mentioned in here and discovered the hidden backup button, but even tho I made it Visible and Enabled, I could not get it to do anything by pressing the Backup button.
Another post in here put me onto having both the Chinese version upgrade and the English version upgrade downloaded, running the chinese version upgrade, then swapping the data file after the security test was done, but prior to pressing update, (the english data file being substituted for the chinese one). My version was Chinese Traditional. The update appeared to be Chinese (PRC). I decided to give it a dry run, (without going to the UPDATE) stage. I followed the chinese preliminary procedure, (with difficulty since I know no chinese) The procedure interrogated the PDA and came up with the version that was in the PDS.. with lots of ??? since the chinese characters were not displayable, I thought.... BUT the H2200 backlight went out, the screen was HP Invent. Serial Number <blank> and Version 1.1
Reset did not fix it.... Hard reset did not fix it... I had lost the existing ROM version data.
I thought I had a brick.
I tried the UPDATE again, using the English update file. It still said it was unable to complete the update because it was the wrong language and gave my version as CHINESE, but no version number now. Since I had communication with the H2210, I decided it may not be dead after all. I went back to the HP site and discovered a CHINESE (TAIWAN) update file.
I downloaded it and ran the updater. It interrogated the H2210 and was not giving an error message, presenting me with with the UPDATE NOW button (but in chinese characters). I renamed the chinese .nbf file with a backup name, copied the english .ndf file into the chinese directory, renamed it.. .and then pressed the Update Button.
A progress bar appeared.. my heart fluttered... then... 1%...... 20 mins later, I had a working HP2210... in ENGLISH!!

GREAT Forum Guys... would never have got there without all the help for the many posters here!!

Glad it got working in the end, using the Chinese ROMs are a bit dodgy seeing as not all comptuers support the characters, plus, if you use the German ROM, most of it is English anyway.

Hi, hasn't anyone tried with the hx4700 upgrade to WM5 in different languages?

My problem: I've waited centuries for this damn'd WM5 update, that is available in english since last march. But I cannot flash it on my Italian hx4700...
And the non-english versions are being continuously postponed... actually to the end of August, but I don't believe it.

Has anybody accomplished to update its Italian/German/French/... hx4700 to English with WM5?

Use the process to change the wm2003SE os from Italian to English, and then jsut installed the English wm5 os. The process has been moved to here.

I bought last year a strange beast, it was 5550 reflashed as 5450. It reports in system as Model Id 5450 but it has model id on the box (under the battery) 5550. Plus it has PXA255 processor and 128 mb memory ( in system reports 64+48 but settings/memory reports 128 mb with correct usage by the programs etc.). The Serial number is identical both on the box and in system report .
Obviously somebody did wrong reflashing in the past..
I downloaded correct Rom for 5550 1.10.10 EN and tried to reflashit,it immediately reported "Wrong Model ID" so i used Flash mode and Enabler to flash above rom..it went OK and now i have 1.10.10 EN inside BUT system still reports Model Id 5450 ????
..and i can't upgrade to latest firmware or drivers for 5550..it refuses with message "Wrong ID try again"....

Any idea how to fix it and restore it to correct state...

i h've chinese language and i want to flash with english rom but getting this language error.

i have done many rom updates in imate pda's through the sd cards and with cradle i just want to ask

can we also update this rom through sd card or not???

Yes, as long as you have the chinese ROM and the English ROM for the rx1950 and you follow the steps exactly.
