Removing Scratches From Aluminum Case
I have been using the Aluminum Hardcase from Rhinoskin (same as the Metal Deluxe Case from Innopocket). Sometimes it winds up in the same pocket as my keys, which means that it has some minor scratches. Has anyone had any success in removing these scratches? (Buffing them out, maybe?)

Well, I haven't tried polishing out scratches in my case, and I've never tried this with aluminum, but...
What about a bit of toothpaste on a soft cloth? It works for silver and glassware -- might work for aluminum? Might scratch it more, I'm not sure how soft aluminum is, but worth a try.

If that case is anodized, you're not going to get good results polishing it. The best thing is to just leave it alone.

WAIT!! BEFORE YOU POLISH!!!
My little brother has got this alumnium mac powerbook that had small scratches on it. He tried polishing it with horrible results. The computer was anodized as is your case. After my brother tried polishing it the whole area looked horrible, dull and tarnished. Apple sells touch up anodizing paint for their new computers and I would give that a try. It comes in a finger nail polish-like container and costs about 5 bucks. The Apple rep at your local computer store should be able to hook you up.

Thanks for the replies. I tried a couple of things before some of these were posted. Toothpaste didn't work, although it's helped before in other situations. I had the bright idea to try rubbing compound (for cars). This turned the back of the case a lovely shade of metallic orange. After a great deal of cleaning, the case wound up as before: the original silver, with all the same scratches.
None of the scratches are bad enough to warrant touch-up paint. Most don't show up unless you tilt the case at different angles in the light. So I've resolved to leave well enough alone.
Thanks again for the comments--

Thats your answer for everything star!
You can try the local hobby shops, they usualy sell all kinds of paint for touch-ups for model cars and such. Or one of those silver magic markers...

i dont think they sell duct tape....
Once i was driving home, and saw a streetlight post broken on the bottom, propped up by some pegs and taped around with ducttape. Ducttape - all you need (visa has nothing on ducttape!)

Thats what the case is for to take the hit for your AX. You should buy a case for your case. Then another case for your case etc. etc.
