You can't, but it is suppose to "learn" words that you frequently use. Sometimes it remembers my last name, but not usually. My Axim never remembered my wife's name, but her Axim has managed to pick it up. It's not a perfect science, but it's better than nothing.

Well everything it learns is 'forgotten' after a soft reset, so I guess you soft reset your device more frequently than your wife.
There's no way to add or change words in autocomplete out-of-the-box. If you don't write english it's useless.
You might try www.wordlogic.com, I think that it allowes you to modify autocomplete.

There is a way to add to the Transcriber dictionary. It's less than obvious though.

1. Select the word. I prefer to double-tap.
2. Do the Quick Correct gesture. (down and up vertically)
3. Select Add to Dictionary from the pop-up menu

fyi, the dictionary file is \windows\user.dct. You can view and edit it by moving it to your desktop with A/S and opening it with notepad then moving it back. This useful for removing words that were added by mistake.

Question

Murman - thanks for your tips on editing the dictionary. I have had a look for the user.dct file and cannot find it?

Can you check the path for me please? I was looking for it in the following:
My Computer > Mobile Device > My Pocket PC > Windows

I have made sure that show hidden files was on as I thought that might be why I couldnt find it.

thanks

Aaron

Aaron -
You've got the right path. (I assume you are browsing through A/S Explore.)

My guess is that you've never added anything to the dictionary, so it doesn't exist. Try adding a word, then check it again.

If that doesn't do, get a registry editor; I use PHM editor. Check the following key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Transcriber\UserDictFile. It should contain the user dictionary file name. (This is how I found it ...)

Good luck.

For some reason I couldn't find it on mine. Running 2002, does that matter?
