If you search on slow startup with the axim there are quite a few things that pop up. I was having troubles with an increasingly long startup on my X51V and wound up using a small program that I downloaded from Dell support called the Notification Queue Manager that helped speed the boot-up of my axim immensely. I highly recommend it as a fix for slow startups (it doesn't cure the Odyssey problem, but relieves the symptoms :) )

often times a slow startup is caused by a lot of programs or one big program left running when you power off. (Can be seen in memory). Delete those running programs and then log off should have a faster startup time.:approve:

I'll ditto BLT on the notification queue and Odyssey. As well as the free Dell tool there are several commercial applications such as Memmaid that will also clean up the notification queue as well as give many other utilities that can help improve performance.
