Wanted to give an axim to a friend (without all my infos on it but still with software) and didn't want to delete all items one by one. Browse the device root folder and delete "pim.vol", then hard-reset. When it comes back there will be no PIM data, a new pim.vol will appear, and everything will work as usual!

PIM.VOL came into being with WM5, I believe. Earlier PDAs would need to accomplish this another way.

On my X50v - no way :p

Actually I 'removed' the PIM file from Outlook on my PC and did a :activesyn which cleaned my ax.
Then I restored the PIM file on the PC without any data loss :)

At least one of the PPC PIM replacements (PocketInformant) has this capability. As do some of the cleaners (e.g.: MemMaid; SKTools). And possibly Tweaks2K2 as well? You can obviously do it from Outlook on the desktop then sync, too.

I transferred the PIM data from my Palm to my ax via Outlook - but got a lot of doubles due to a fault by me :(
Cleaned and started all over again - no faults :)

ah so not only deleting pim infos, but backing up and transfering as well! ooh I never thought I was so crafty
