Active Sync has worked OK till now. I have moved
and when I connect my USB cable I can no longer
get contact. On the PC side I am told that Active
Sync is connecting but that is all that happens. On
the Axim side (X51v) I am told that I must install
Active Sync 4.1 or higher. Well, 4.1 is the version
I got so what is it complaining about?
I do not remember what USB port I used but should
this not be transparent?
I have reinstalled Active Sync without getting any
further.
If you still have a partnership you may want to delete it and create a new partnership. I know I've had that issue and it cleared up after deleting the partnership.

Hi
Just registered so sorry if my question has been dealt with but I to have a problem up to today i have been able to fully sync with my laptop contacts calendar & inbox plus tasks notes etc. but now I cannot sync the contacts, Calendar & Inbox I can howevery sync everthing else tasks notes etc.
the message against calendar contacts & Inbox says "sync status is on the device" all other items have "syncronized" against them.
also at the last sync all contacts, calendar events on the PDA were removed.
I would appreciate some advice
My active sync worked good until I upgraded to ActiveSync v 4.5 It would sync quite well and life was good, until I turned my pc off. When my pc was started again, my internet connection was dead. After restoring my pc to pre active sync 4.5, my internet was once again alive. I tried this 4 times with the with the same results each & every time. Any thoughts???

would it be worth doing a Hard reset?
if so do I lose programs on the PDA
I know I will lose my info on Notes etc but I can back that up:)
your views would be appreciated

Maybe, but before we get to that point, let's see if we can figure out what's gone wrong. :)

Maybe! If you have a current backup or have kept copies of the programs on your laptop (coupled with any registration numbers/details) then you can simply reinstall them.
Conversely, if you don't have the originals and/or a backup, then you will not be able to recover those applications following a hard reset.

You don't give a lot of detail about your setup, so it's difficult to offer specific advice and generic guidance can be found in my earlier post. If none of the suggestions work, it may be time to look at ActiveSync.
What version of ActiveSync are you using? It may be worth trying an earlier or later version.
Have you checked to ensure that Contacts are selected to sync? (From AS on your PC select Tools > Options...> Contacts (depending on version!) and check the box). Try unchecking and saving (forcing a resync) and then return and check the option again.
Make sure that AS resolves conflicts in favour of your PC (rather than your ppc) - From AS select Tools > Options... > Settings
The precise route through the menus may vary depending on your configuration. If you can provide some additional information on your setup, more detailed directions can be provided.
Good luck.

Sorry runnr548, are you saying that you have reinstalled an earlier version of ActiveSync or that you are still persevering with 4.5?
Clearly, if it is the latter, an earlier version may restore your configuration to its former rude health. :)
However, I have seen similar problems with a lack of memory, so it may be worth checking that you have sufficient disc space.
Another thought is that your AV may need to be amended to allow Activesync to access the PC and Internet. Some AV programms get a little grumpy if you upgrade without consulting them first
Hi Jogga
thanks for your input I have tried as you suggested but I still get the same problem
you asked for details of my setup well here goes:-
Active sync version 3.7.1 [build 4034]
Dell Axim X50V
I have 2 computers which I use
My main computer is Pentium 4 2800
1536MB [DDR SDRAM]
Windows XP Pro
OS Service pack Service pack 2
And my Notebook
Intel Pentium M 1244Mhz
1270 MB [DDR SDRAM]
Windows XP Pro
OS Service pack Service pack 2
in active sync [on computer] I have tried clicking on the tasks contacts, calendar & inbox
I get the message below
Synchronisation cannot be completed, because a connection has not been set up with a server. To create a connection, enable synchronization with a server and click configure. Then, click Connection and enter server information
I have looked at the new window
window “Connection Information”
Synchronization with a server can be synchronized with a Microsoft Exchange Server with Exchange ActiveSync
Tick box :- this server uses an SSL connection
Then username
Password
Domain
I have had a look at some of the settings and n ote on file there is a option to delete partnership but that is greyed out
once agin you input would be appreciated
all the best

Well, the first thing that's worth trying is upgrading ActiveSync to v4.5. You can download it free from the Windows Mobile website.

I wonder if trying the Fake Server trick would solve the problem?

When i've seen the "sync status is on the device" before, it's usually because you've got a setting in ActiveSync set to sync to a Server. Check out those options in Activesync and make sure you don't have them set to sync with a Server:
Open up Activesync on your computer, select Tools > Options - Is the "Enable syncronization with a server" option checked?

Well done item resolved :approve: when I deleted the check mark for "Enable syncronization with a server"
I now can syncronise my Contacts & Calendar I expect so long as I adhere to the above rule I will be able to Synchronise with with inbox on my main computer:)
thanks to everyone who has helped
