Hmm Longevity

I have had a x51v for about 2 1/2 years. I use it hours every day. 99% of the usage is multimedia. I don't even take the ear phone out when I am not using it for fear of the dreaded ear plug failure. (Put and in and take it out enough and it will surely break -- again)

I would like ask users of this gizmo to share information about how long their x51v has or had lasted. I am just trying to get other peoples observations and experiences to determine if I should be considering a new device or when I might expect to start considering a new device.

Thanks for your input.

I know you are asking about the x51v, but I have had my X50v since December, 2004 and it's still going strong with daily use. I would expect the build quality of the X51v to be similar to that of my X50v.

Honestly I suggest you unplug your headset when you are transporting the axim. I used to have a 90 degree adapter in mine all the time thinking I would wear that out instead of the axim. Well in short I was wrong. The pressure of my pocket and whatever else against the adapter was too much for the jack in the axim to handle and I trashed it quickly. :( Also the jack on the axim is pretty robust and it waers grooves in any male jack that is plugged into it and moved around.

Dear St. Fran,

Thanks for the tip. Actually, I keep my x51v at home so my worry about the switch in the receptacle takes precedence because I have replaced my x51v as well as my Hp Ipaq rw6815 because of the switch failure. The point of the remark was to emphasis the use the Axim gets.
