Axim not switching on?

Discovered this ages ago but didn't think to post it till it happened recently. My Axim X50v would not switch on, thought the battery was dead so shoved it in the cradle and let it charge fully and the axim still failed to turn on so out of frustration I held down the power button and about 10 seconds of holding it down it started. Its worked several times since when a normal quick press didn't work :hide:

Just to clarify: The battery had drained to nothing so had the back up battery which upon charging the main battery and installing it the axim would still not switch on, even when putting it in the cradle and charging both the main and backup batteries, it would not turn on, hard reset and soft reset would also not work. So holding down the power button switched it on and it booted like it had been reset or hard reset even though it had not.

Depending on how you have the power button set, that is actually what you would expect.

Holding down the power button will turn off the screen. It won't come on again until you press and hold again.
If you have accidently turned the screen off then this will bring it back.
I believe it is the reason people often say they can only start it by doing a soft reset, which will override the screen off action.

let me establish that the battery had drained to nothing so had the back up battery which upon charging the main battery and installing it the axim would still not switch on, even when putting it in the cradle and charging it, it would not turn on, hard reset and soft reset would not work. This means also that all info from ram is gone and I really doubt the screen can just auto switch off itself. So holding down the power button switched it on and it booted like it had been reset or hard reset even though it had not.

I understand.
I wasn't being facetious.
Since you posted it in tips and tricks I just wanted to point out that it can be the normal function of the power button.

This may not be related but, ive found on my x50 that if u leave the wifi on when u turn it off, it takes longer to turn off and turn on.

It will turn the wifi back on before turning the device on it seems.
