Here I thought I had an Axim problem with the SD cards. I come to find out they don't work well for anything. After about the 1GB mark they start failing. The data is corrupted. From what I understand, there are a lot of fake Sandisk cards out there. I got stuck with two 4gb lemons.

I would never buy that sort of electronics on ebay. That is like saving $5 with a big risk.. It may not show its ugly face right away, but later you can lose a lot of data. Sorry you learned the hard way. Sure there might be some people out there with no problems, but they were lucky or paid high for original ones.

Just got 2GB Micro SD from Best Buy the other day for $30. Come on.

You can find 4G SD cards for under $30 without too much effort. There are just somethings it doesn't pay to go cheap on. I fail to understand some poeples thougth process by trying to save a couple of dollars something that isn't that exspensive in the first place.

If you check buy.com you can usually get sd cards really cheap if you use google checkout to get the $10 off first time.

I got a 2gb for $10.95-$10.00= $0.95
This promo is ended but they have others starting all the time.

Well, the space is only 1GB on both cards using test software. Everything beyond is unreadable. I tried to use the partitioning method using WM5storage, but the partition is unalterable and cannot be deleted. As a matter of fact, the attempt rendered one card unusable. If I could at least repartition the remaining card, it could be a functional 1GB SD card, but that's not going to happen. I wonder how they make these cards in the first place? If there was a software tool, maybe it could be used to "unhack" the cards as well. I'm guessing that it may require specialized hardware as well though. Anyway, it didn't really hurt anything to try repartitioning.
