Too make a long story short I was was on my comp and wanted to try downloading free version of Doom 2 and theres this entire thing about .wad and something with cab files. but I have never really have ever done anything like this before so

1. Is there some sort of tutorial available some where that will explain this process 2 me.
2 Is this like safe to be doing.
3. Is it legal? :hide:
4. Any help would be really great please and thank you.

sounds like you are trying to download a mobile version

there are 2 parts to getting Doom etc to run.

1) the Mobile exe (installed via the cab file) this is the game that actually runs

2) the WAD file is the resource that the game reads to get the level, maps, graphics etc. This file is copied directly from your LICENCED PC install of Doom2 (or whatever)

install the cab
copy the wad
run the program on the PPC
