There are no free sites for this that are legal. Sorry.

There is one that I saw which streamed about 30 channels from all over the world. I don't know how many channels there are world wide but I'm probably not going out on a limb by saying that this is a limited selection :) These were streams, not downloadable files. I'm certain that they were legal broadcasts...

So there are SOME free resources out there still, but probably not many :)

Granted, most anything on U.S. commercial networks is going to be copyrighted, but I can't believe that there are NO public domain TV programs anywhere on the planet... :crooked:

Well, I'll try and state it a little better then. There are no free sites that are legal, that have the TV shows that 99%+ of the users here would be looking for. :)

Um, get them off your tv? duh? you can also buy most shows on dvd. It's super easy to get either of those onto your axim, just go buy a dvd and rip it.

While I am sure that it is super easy for most Axim users to "rip" these some of us are still struggling trying to "rip & encode" videos for viewing...it has been a truly frustrating venture...

How do you rip from DVD to Axim?

Can anyone tell the neophytes among us how to rip from DVD (or perhaps VCD or other video source) to a format that our Axims can use?

Thanks!

There are several good threads and how - to's on how to do just that...I just have not had much luck with it yet. But most have been able to do it, so it is not the guides...just me.

Anyway, Iwould look in the forum section under Multimedia and try some of the guides and see how that goes for you...

Thanks mfphoto1, for using my site. Glad you like it. And yes you can encode your own videos, its allot of fun. But there IS allot of free streaming video out there also, and the best place to start is PPCVIDZ And for a subscription you can also download videos including Divx Video encoded by using my Guides. Plus they are working on Digital Rights Management to be able to offer New release stuff, instead of just public Domain videos. This is a legal site and could use some support to grow were as to be able to get those new releases to put out for the PocketPC community.BigDs Video Guides

Try Movie Maker 2, I can't stress enough how much easier it is to use when you are new to this stuff than fooling with divx. This is assuming you have wm2003, ppc2002 users are definately better off staying w/ divx.

mm2 is made to be easy to use, it's main purpose is so everyday joes and edit their home movies. Try it out, it is literally 4-6 clicks and you are done if you've already got the the video file on your pc.

I never had any luck with Windows Movie Maker.. It just shuts down.. Anyway, I re-encoded some Duck Tales episodes, and they work GREAT.. The best format to view on Axim are the cartoons, because of their frame rates. I also re-encoded AIRHEADS successfully, however the frame rate was at 15fps, and it is a little bothersome time to time. I suggest follow the FAQs and How-to's. You may also use Dr.Divx which comes with pre-configured PPC formatted settings. You just click once to encode it into PPC compatible video, if you want a better picture, you may fine tune it yourself, like audio/video compression or fps. Otherwise, follow BigD, you'll be fine.
Good luck.
