Cleaning Screen Protector/Application
Just thought I'd share my newly-learned skill, though I am certainly aware that you will all probably read this, raise up one eyebrow, and mutter "pfft...noob".
I recently purchased a Martin Field's screen protector but have been having a bugger of a time getting it to lay properly. The screen protector I had before this one was much easier to install but the Martin Field's seems a bit of a bigger size (though it is certainly cut to fit perfectly). Anyway, I had a hard time getting it on properly.
Needless to say, after re-applying it a couple of times, I ended up with lint stuck to the underneath portion of it. I got fed up and went down to the IT Mall here in Singapore (I easily spend hours in this place....a tech dream) and went to the shop that I purchased the first screen protector from (not the Martin Field's) so that I could buy a new one and get them to install it.
The guys thought I was nuts to throw away a Martin Field's and said they could apply it properly (yeah, they said properly). I was curious as to how they would clean the side that would stick to the screen.
Here's what they did: They took wide tape, the clear packing type, and applied it to the side that would be laid on the screen. They then peeled it back and applied it to the screen (the same way you would peel off the original backing when you bought it). It took off all of the lint and went on perfectly! I was amazed! Plus, they did it at no charge as they were applying the screen protector that was already on it, which they didn't sell. Great service to boot.
Sorry, I just realised how long this post is. I'm flying back to Canada in the morning and am a bit high on coffee at present. Not a good time to be posting, perhaps.
Anyway, I now know how to reapply my screen protectors in the future, should I get dust and lint on the backing.
Cheers.

Hi EC, thanks for the post. I moved it to the Tips and Tricks forum since it is likely to be helpful to users of all devices, not just the 4700.:approve:

Is this the same process that should be taken to clean a Boxwave screen protector?

I am not sure. Boxwave gives some very detailed instructions on how to care for their products. I would think this would work for most screen protectors though.

Cheers, I'm still unsure whether to get a boxwave now or to use up my crappy belkin ones.

What is your preference between crystal and anti-glare? I can't decide. But if the anti-glare is practically transparent I'll get one of those.

Never tried a Crystal - but here in Sydney the Anto-glare is invaluable.
Are you buying 1 or a three pack? if it is the later they will normally mix n' match for you.

I was just thinking the single pack and I will get the antiglare because (I know you won't believe it but,) it can get pretty sunny in England, I mean yesterday we had heavy rain for about 5 minutes then really bright hot sunshine for 5 minutes which repeated all afternoon. This made using my pda outside very hard as I couldn't see it when it was dry. I'm hoping the anti glare one will solve this problem.

I kinda guessed you were British (Welsh flag is a give away!!). I didn't think you would believe me but the last month or so it has been pretty sunny, the occassional rain here and there, but theres suppose to be more to come. :) .
Anyway, just ordered the antiglare screen protector so hopefully it will be as good for me as it is for you.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
It's suppose to be sunny on Sunday so can't wait, raining at the moment!!!!!

I gotta admit, that's an awesome trick. I'm about to try it on my BoxWave because there's a little piece that's been driving me nuts for a while.
On a side note since there's a discussion about, I had the BoxWave Crystal and went to the anti-glare. I have found the responsiveness of the screen to be WORLDS better with the anti-glare, and the overall lack of glare is great.
Cheers!
