Backup nightmare

I did the WM2003 upgrade last weekend and in the process lost all my programs and I think WM2002 OS. I used pocket backup plus and the backup system in activesync. As of today I'm back to were I was before the upgrade, now the question is how do I backup this Ax and its programs.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but AS will backup the Main Memory (including install programs, registry etc.). You can use Explorer to manually copy your data from storage card and Built In Storage to your PC.

You should be able to reinstall Pocket Backup Plus. Dell does have an internal backup profram that can store backups on SD, CF or File Storage but I found it to be unreliable.

You seem surprised that everything was wiped out. Honestly, I thought that it was very clearly spelled out in the instructions when I upgraded that it would wipe the machine, that Activesync or external backups of databases from PPC 2002 would not be compatible with WM2003, etc..

You are absolutely correct. The instructiond did clearly state to sync, not to backup. Seems a number of Ax users don't read instructions at critical times. This isn't the first thread I have seen with this issue.
