Upgrading to PPC 2003 PROBLEM

Hi
I recently upgraded my dell axim ROM to A04 and then I bought the PPC 2003 upgrade CD. Whenever I attempt to upgrade it , it says it cannot upgrade from A04 to A05. Can someone please help me.

That's an interesting post. My guess is that the Dell upgrade CD looks at the ROM version. Since A04 is new perhaps the upgrade does not recognize it.

Is it possible to install the A03 upgrade back over the A04? You have to scratch the unit anyway so another hard reset will not hurt it.

You may want to call Dell tech support on this one to verify that though.

I'd say contact Dell, probably the version checking in the WM2003 upgrade is unaware of the 2002 A04.

Just ensure that you spell it out to them that you have 2002 04 not 2003 04.

Being that it is Dell's CD, I would also contact Dell. That way you'll also make sure that you don't do anything that would screw up your Axim, and that Dell will help you.

did anyone try to install A03 over the A04 to use the WM2003 upgrade???
Or maybe tried to use the restore option on the cd to revert the ROM back to their saved .RIS image of the A03 2002 ROM??
Thought i'd throw those bones out there.

Before I upgraded to PPC2K3 I was at ROM vA04. I didn't have any problems. Did anything happen between A03 & A04?

but which A04 did you have 2003 (the buggy & slow original 2003) or the newest 2002 update A04 that the original post of this thread is referring to.

I downloaded and upgraded to A04 on 10/18/03. Then I received and installed PPC2K3 this past weekend. Is their a certain modified date on the A04 update files I should look for?

did you have any problems upgrading from ppc 2002 A04 to wm2003 A05?
I only ask because i had to go back to ppc 2002 from 2003 upgrade due to a software issue.
I will be going back to 2003 in a couple weeks when i get home and saw that this guy was having problems with his upgraded and wanted to prepare myself if necessary.

ROM A04 seems to me to be a tad faster than A03 but some of the things it was supposed to fix i'm not sure if it really fixed anything. but it does allow for a 200 mhz fsb where A03 only ran 100mhz

The only problems I had were some sync(partnership) issues. All user errors - delete happy fingers- I made the stupid mistake of taking on the quest a little past midnight....Duh...Brain dead moments!

Well I feel better about getting home and re-upgrading now. thanks.....now only if the guys at sprite software will get that patch out for pocket backup plus i will be super.
