Background

I was wondering if there is any way to get my background to be clear. When I use the given themes, the background is crisp and clear. However, when I decided to use a picture that I sent to the device, the background has this white haze over it. It is very annoying. The great pics that I have are nasty. Any help here?

I have the same problem as well with the washed out backdrops.

Its when you go to
Start -> Settings -> Today ->

In this menu there is an option to "Use this picture s the background" When you check that box you get a brouse button and you choose the picture.

No matter what picture I choose, it gets washed out and looks horrible. I have not yet had the chance to use the theme generator from Microsoft but I might have to if this option doesnt work properly.

the theme generator programs really get you were you need to be....just doing the "use as background" really looks horrible and cause many nights of migraines....do your self a favor and get the theme gerator by microsft it is free and will do most of what you want

If you are using the Picture program to set the picture as wallpaper, set the transparency level to 0%.

After you click on the picture and set it as the Today screen, you have the option to set what percent transparency, set it to 0% and your picture will look as is,

Today screen background picture

I used to have a lot of trouble with the Today picture, too. Now instead of going through settings and the menu thing, try just going to the picture you like throught the picture program. On the bottom left, click on tools and you should be able to make it the today picture from there. You might want to adjust the transparency level--depending on the darkness/lightness of the picture. Good luck.

Definitely download the microsoft theme generator from their site, and run your image through there to make a ppc theme. I had the same problem, it has to do with how the image file is optimized, not neccessarily the transparency level. Remember the Ax' has a 65k color display so the pallette and color accuracy will never be exact....

I want to thank Glads1St for his first relevant suggestion. The "picture" viewer can (als) adjust the transparency of jpgs that normally dont have any. This is really annoying why its set to 65% transparency. And no you dont have to use MS theme manager.

This is for WM2003.
