How to assign a button to "mute" ?

I often want to turn the sound off and back on with my X5 and I know it's only 1-2 clicks away, but it would be inifitely convenient to be able to assign one of the action buttons to mute the sound (and un-mute it).

I've tried everything I can think of to do this to no avail, does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance

I don't know about system mute, but in Media Player you can assign a button to mute.

I dont know of a solution, yet, seems like
there could be a program out there to do it.

I put a "Speaker" icon on ICbar -- one tap and it's mute, another it's back on. You can do the same thing with WisBar and GigaBar, I believe.

On Wisbar all you have to do is hold down the sound icon for like half a secondd.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the whole point was to make it a hardware button map so I didn't have to use the stylus and find an on screen icon to tap..I'll keep looking ;)

Here's kind of a long roundabout way to get there, it'll work, but it's not free.

Get any of the 3 "Bars" and create/assign an Icon to Mute.

Next, get VITO ButtonMapper. With VBM you can create a Macro (of sorts) that "Records" a single, or a series of Screen Taps, which you can then assign to a Hard Button either as a Normal Button Press or as a Press & Hold......on any of your Hard Buttons.

For instance, I assigned MagicSS Screen Shot app to my Record Button as a Press & Hold. I have to conciously want to take a screen shot. I don't have to worry about a whole lot of .bmp files stuck in my Windows Directory from accidental Button Presses and I don't have to wade through any menus to take a screen shot.........it's right there on the side of my Axim, ready & waiting.

Like I said, it's a roundabout way to get there, but it'll do what you want.
